If this gov shutdown business continues I may leave town earlier in the week and just tour around NC for a day or two and show up there by mid-day Friday, so I'd love to ride right seat.
Despite @skyhighZJ 's great suggestions I'll just be driving my Mazda down and probably sleeping in it.

My son decided he’d rather hang with me than go to his buddy’s birthday sleepover Saturday.

We may bring a tent or see if one the high point misfits has room in a camper.

Debating bringing my Toyota for a trail ride before it gets ton swapped. I’d be just trail riding for the most part, my front driveshaft is no happy and I’m waiting for it to let go, blow the oil pan and whatever else up. Depends if @Noel makes it out of Harlan in one piece.

Somebody fill me in on the group camp setup. I remember stories in the past about little motorcycle shenanigans. Is that going on again or is this camping area like the other Badin Lake loops where they frown on that kind of stuff? I have a little CRF50 I could bring.

I’m tryin not to bring my xcw300 for that same reason 😎

Could being my son 110 Yamaha if it’s that kinda party though.
Yeah, plenty of room for low velocity shenanigans, mostly on gravel. Don’t be a complete dumbass and it’ll be fine. I haven’t decided which 2 wheeled nuisance I’m gonna bring (DRZ70 or KTM SX-E5), but there will almost certainly be one. I’d be down for a trail ride on the big dirtbikes if anyone else is too in which case I’d probably bring the Alta. @DSM Turbos and I did this last year and it was fun.

Well we have the whole campground to ourselves, so as long as we dont raise enough hell to bother the other campground a half mile away or hurt anyone bad enough to need 911, we should be fine......

Duane
Group camp is a big loop with three camp areas but like mentioned we have all of them.
Acktchually Friday night we only have sites 1 and 2. We have all 3 Saturday night. I do this for a multitude of reasons, but the main one is cost since it’s like $80 per site per night, and there’s always less turnout on Friday night.

I figure the odds of someone just wanting a site Friday night are pretty low, and heck, if they do need it, I don’t want to snatch it and then they not have a place to stay. But mostly just because of my Israeli roots. :D

Not sure what my plan this year is. Will depend on if I take the dogs with and just hang out.

would an 11 yr old boy in a semi decent go cart have fun around camp? What about the trails?

Never been to URE… we would always drive 39 minutes more to Harlan.

I’ve thought about taking him on the trails on his bike and take mine. I’ve just got a severe second gear handfulla throttle issue that I’ve been struggling with for years.

I won’t ride mine at home anymore because if I do, I trench the yard. Second gear drifting wheelies are the absolute best. Aside from third gear drifting wheelies (I just don’t have the space to click third until I’m on pavement and then im loosing nice rubber and more neighbors get pissed. )

You could definitely have fun on the trails on a bike. There’s probably some room for second and third gear shenanigans, but a lot of it is not that fast. Between obstacles and variois rock features and water bars, it’s just very punchy, and you don’t really get up to speed that much.

With my son, I probably won’t take my bike since I’m kinda a psychopath on it. All the photos I’ve seen of URE seem more open than I’m used to. I rip around brown in 2nd 3rd most of the time. If I’ve got to slow down I’m jamming gears and if I can remember, using the rekluuse

She’s a beaut Clark.

Somebody remind me, what is the shower house situation? Is there one at Arrowhead?
It’s something like 3 showers and 3 shitters. Running water and flushing toilets. Hot water in some of them. They are not super nice or clean, but they are perfectly acceptable for a primitive campground amenity.

I just need enough for a hooker shower before heading off to a Scout troop reunion which I assume will have lots of smelly boys anyway. Then I'll scrounge a real shower before the class reunion

I've managed to get the Jeep zip-tied together and several small issues wrapped up. My camping equipment is another story, I had planned on checking it all out today but now it's raining. Later sounds like a good time for that, there's plenty of time... right? 😅

I’ll probably leave midday Friday and come back midday Sunday. I’ll shoot you a text later in the week and we can nail down the details.
Sounds good.
Hollar, I'll go wheel with ya. And I'm in Lincolnton too.
Definitely, thanks. My boys are practically men now with their own jobs and lives. It's time I start having hobbies again.

Post up if you need any gear. I probably have extra of most things, and if I don’t, I’m sure someone else does.

Or just sleep on a picnic table under an EZ-up…. Or next to the fire ring to keep the fire going for the lazy asses :flipoff2:

So bummed I’m missing it this year…..
I’ve slept under a trailer or two in my day. And under my truck more than that. No dew for the win.
