As always, it was great seeing everyone! The BBQ was tolerable but the buffalo chicken dip was phenomenal!!!!

Huge shoutout to @Van-go for letting us take a lap in the van - that thing is sweet!

Also, I sucked at taking pics this weekend, here's my contribution (I hate I didn't get one of @Mulishajoe & @Noel on the grom together)

I may have purchased a bottle of Cinnamon Toast Crunch dust today lol šŸ˜‚

Absolutely great event as usual! It was good to see a lot of the same old faces, and a few new ones too. The food was phenomenal. The conversations were great. The weather was top notch. The wheeling was perfect for my Cherocar on 31ā€ street tires with open diffs.

Here’s some pics from wheeling on Saturday. There were about 3 different groups of NC4x4ers at the double parking lot.

My group looked like gang of rogue Jeepers attacking a rock.

The gathering at the top of Daniel around noon on Saturday has to be largest gathering of NC4x4 members to ever occur on a trail. I bet there were 30 people and close to 20 rigs! (A lot of repeat pics from different angles but someone might be in one and not another, and there were about a dozen rigs out of shot down the hill)

I would have probably been done with wheeling yesterday evening after riding 7hrs on Saturday, but the Eli’s wanted to go again today (@jeepinmatt jr and @justjeepin86 jr) so after we broke camp and headed out, we ran Lakeview and Slab Pile to polish off the weekend.

And I was thrilled with the weekend too.

Other than the dust of course

I asked him if he wanted a souvenir from the outpost and he said yeah, there was a headlamp he wanted.

Fortunately it was $7 instead of the $20 I was fearing, haha. He will cherish this for years.

And the headlamp was cheap enough we could afford a good meal at a little Scottish restaurant we saw on the way home!

Couldn’t have asked for better weather, wheeling, or company.

The Cherokee totally conquered everything I threw at it, with almost no issues. Right front shock bolts came out, which was a ten minute trail fix. And the rear shocks blew. Which was fine because they were too long, super rusty, and needed to be replaced anyway. That’s it! No other issues! Super pleased considering the haste with which it was assembled and lack of testing. :D

I think @Jody Treadway is a GER kinda guy now. I’ve never been there… also never played on tons at Windrock. At the end of the day it’s people… good people. As long as I can bring my son and not endanger his wellbeing I’m down for whatever yall want to ride

Fingers crossed for a quick transition to big axles…
Hollar when your close to done. I'll go with you for a shake down.

Forget who I had the conversation about fire extinguishers with, but here’s the video

I keep two. We had a friends 5.9zj with a fuel fire in Harlan on summer. Took 5 extinguishers to put it out.

23 minute vid, no thanks! Which one is best?
(Nerd alert): After researching vehicle fire extinguishers as part of a past project at a former employer, I tell people to get an ABC or BC dry chemical that can be serviced. I prefer ones from AMEREX (toured the factory, made in Arkansas) and buckeye is pretty good as well, also made in America. Yea dry chemical, or purple K, makes a mess but it puts the fire out on average 25% quicker than a gas based extinguisher, especially outside when you have wind blowing the extinguishing agent away from the fire. The other danger with a CO2 or halon based is if you discharge it in a confined space, like a truck cab, you can displace the oxygen and kill yourself or others. I have a 5lb AMEREX ABC, which is undersized and I need to upgrade it, but it's really meant to get me or someone else away from the burning truck. Those chromed/riced out, or the ones that look like a can of wasp spray Amazon specials are garbage, spend the extra few bucks on something decent, the good ones are also designed for outside and or industrial applications so will last longer. Also it's crazy how cheap a fire suppression system actually is, they are like $500.

I'm also an idiot on the internet, so as always do your own research.

I really enjoyed meeting everyone and the food was great. I wasn't able to do many trails because my MJ was cutting off after it got hot and I didn't want to block any trails while it cooled off. I only took a couple pics.

I had a blast. Henry probably had the best time of his life. He keeps asking me if we are headed back for the Veterans ride… going to try to make that one too. Thanks to everyone who interacted with him and creating such a welcoming environment for us both. He’s hooked for sure.

Like @Monkeynono , I was having so much fun I neglected to photo document the adventures.

First time I had met him, but he certainly seemed like he was in his element!
