i modded my range rail so i can twin stick my case but now it wont go back in. there is a little ball bearing inside the hole, thats what it is catching on. is this ball spring loaded and supposed to move back and forth? also which way do the 3 little notches on the shaft face, towards the front input or the front output?
thanks

The three little notches (about 1/2" apart) are the detents that the detent ball (spring-loaded little BB) notches into. You remove one of the bolts on top of the case to remove the detent spring and ball, then slide the rail back in.

The detent notches (assuming we're thinking about the same thing) will go toward the detent ball. But the likelihood is that between the shift rail pin and the notches for the lockout, etc, that you'll only be able to orient the shift rail one direction.

yea...the case needed to be in neutral for the ball to slide back

okay rail is in, everything is back together and working just fine. now, ive been working on my shifters tonight, they are almost done, but im at a loss as far as mounting them goes. how did you guys that have twin sticks mount them? there is an empty hole on the top of the tranny, i was thinking of making somthing that would bridge across from this hole to the tranny hump and then make the pivot right there. any suggestions?

hey, if you have time tomorrow you can run over to my house and take a look as to how ORD did theirs. i get out of class at 3 15

here are some pics of the bracket from ORD... i still havent put the 205 in yet....

oh yea, i keep forgetting there is a difference between our stuff. of course our tcases are swapped but the bracket could look the same, just reversed. also thats for the triple stick but since the third stick goes to the 203 i dont think that would change the bracket any. im not sure why there are two holes drilled in the bracket i guess for the different rotations of the tcases they offer. also note the little section of pipe with a piece of metal welded to it on the longer shift rail.

Ok guys, when ya'll are done you need to hook up to see who has the better orange machine. :D

yea you got me there....
so how does that bracket work? it looks like it mounts to the rear output shaft, but then how could the front range rail pivot off of that? maybe i just need to see it in person. could i come by tomorrow at like 10 or 11am? you live near broughton right?

Because you can't reach the rear shift rail around the 203... so you need a lever arm to move the shifter outboard. The lever pivots off a mount bolted to the front output. The shifter attaches in the middle.

The shifters I built for my truck are similar, for the same reason. I originally thought I could build a shifter that sleeved over the front shift rail, but I got too much parasitic movement, so I came up with the lever idea. It looks like somebody else thought the same thing. ;)

i have class from 7 30 - 9 40 and then work from 10 - 6. the weekend would work better for me, my only free weekday was today and thats still only after 3 15
