I've got a 86 toyota that's running stock gears with 35s. I plan to continue building the truck if I keep it. Want a better than stock carb. What are some good options? I've seen the weber set ups but don't know much about them. I've also seen 2 and 4 barrel set ups. Lmk

I put a weber on my sammi with a 1.6 and mounted it backwards for climbing, I love it. Most power my old 8valve has ever made. I also put a carter 2 barrel on a Mazda B2600 and it worked pretty good too. Those webers are pretty simple to mess with and can be bought as a kit with everything you need to put it on.

I put a Weber on my 84 4runner a little over a year ago. I can't say how it runs because I still haven't set the timing and got it going but I can say that I hated the 2 piece adapter plate that came with it and I ordered a 1 piece from summit.

I heard the same thing but mine was fine. What was the issue? I spent a lot of time porting my set up and actually match ported both plates after I had them bolted down to smooth everything up.

I've had absolutely no complaints with my stock carb. Are you having problems with yours, or are you looking to get more power?
I don't know how you can drive that thing with stock gears and 35's. It takes everything my 82' has to get up the mountain with 4.10's and 33's

I had a horrible time trying to get them to stop leaking. I actually ended up stripping one of the threaded holes because I took it apart and put it back together with loc tite so many times.

I used copious amounts of gasket schelac and my 36-36 rips! I could never imagine using a stock carb again. My weber is on a 2F. I mounted mine standard and the idle will drop a bit when i have my front straight down but it almost never stalls. WAAAAAY easier to start of it does stall too, just hold it to thr floor and crank. Webers are easy to tune and function far better than a stock carb IMHO.
