ok heres the deal got a 22r with no factory coil or igntion module. i got a new 22r distributor and a round coil and a MSD 6AL. i used the instructions i found on pirate and i got now spark. has anyone wired one of these up on a 22r . this is how i got it wired so far

1.big red and black wires to battery
2. small red to switched 12v source
3. black and orange to coil
4. violet and grean
5. white not used.

Wait a couple of days. Lots of guys are only on here during the week. (Work internet and none at home.) I've really got nothin' for you. The ignitor went out on mine a couple of years ago and I just put another one on. Got a used one for $50. New they are like $350. Coils are around $80 or so new.

what i dont understand is theirs 12volts at the white wire that is said not to be used. i got no voltage on either side of the coil. but if i take the coil wire off the distributor and get it close to a ground source and pull either wire from the distributor and plug it back in i get spark to ground from the coil wire to ground. whats up with that ?

Sounds like your msd box isn't supplying voltage to the coil like it should. Is this msd box made for this engine? And do you need a distributer that is compatible with said msd box?

1.big red and black wires to battery correct
2. small red to switched 12v source correct
3. black negative? and orange positive? to coil
4. violet to white on the Dist? and grean to the red on the dist?
5. white not used. White will have voltage...still not used

Do you have the box set for 4 cylinder?

messed with it last night after work. took the dist out and turned it by hand with one spark plug wire with a plug in it with the plug grounded and my coil wire and spark plug wire kept sparking to ground , basicly i got some crappy wires with some holes in them. is it true that if you run msd that all your stuff like cap and rotor button should be cooper or it will melt the other stuff like aluminum contacts in dist caps.

there are wires on the back of the box that should be cut for 4cyl applications; but it should still crank (just want get much over 3,000 rpms. I ran stock cap and rotor with the 6al I had. I did have a pickup coil go bad once in the dist.
