I have a brand new mixer. its a ca200m-2-2fb. I cannot lean it out enough for the motor to run properly. Well i can lean it out by adjusting the WOT mixture all the way lean, but then its too lean to accelerate properly. I thought there was something wrong with the mixer and I swapped it for another brand new mixer and the same results. Any suggestions? Can a intake side backfire ruin the regulator as well as the mixer?

you shouldnt need it, but you can run a reference vacuum line from the mixer base to the regulator.

the WOT mixture shouldnt effect the idle mixture much... there should be an idle mixture screw. Some mixers have different diaphragms and springs to have different flow.

Im not sure i need the reference vaccum. I have been having hard starts and then a backfire at startup. Which suggests richness at startup. However before the backfire it ran fine. Fuel to air ratio was fine too. Now with the new mixer it wont lean out at all. Its either too much air or too much fuel. It will not budge off 10ppm at idle and its very rough idle. I guess its possible that i have the wrong mixer or both the new mixers are manufactured wrong

Which diaphram?

http://www.wheelindixie.com/forums/...building-an-impco-model-E-regulator-vaporizor

My vaporizer is a gemini ii model us-e. which looks like an impco model e generic Both the Primary and the seconday DiaPhrams look ok. We found a teaspoon of oil in the upper cavity not sure what thats about. Also the paint on the blue spring is coming off, this is supposed to be a new vaporizer. Not sure if thats normal or not. I didnt want to tear into it much more tonight to see the condition of the spong and the other diaphram.

its possible, i'll have to check.

Is it possible the lever in the in E vaporizer is not set correctly? So that at idle its opening and allowing more fuel?

Im contemplating bending it.

Did you buy there whole kit from got propane?

If not and you pieced it together you probably got some much larger than necessary parts.

Here's what Kevin told me:

you may not see anything abnormal with the plugs if they are fouled by LP, thats part of what screws with you.

plugs are cheap, toss a set in, see if that helps.

I had this happen a few times, no start, or run like crap, check the plugs, crank and check the spark, nice pretty spark kernel, still no change, toss in a fresh set of plugs, boom, it's running starts like there was never anything wrong.

first time this happened to me I'd wasted better part of a day and a lot of aggravation, co-worker told me to change the plugs, I argued with him, he told me do it anyway. fawking thing started right up ( inline 6cyl nissan in a Komatsu lift )

another thing I'll do to reinforce that I'm having a fuel issue, take a half liter water bottle, poke a small hole in the cap, put a few ounces of gasoline in, squirt a little in throttle body, crank it, then squirt a little more as it runs, I've run a few this way, just to verify it was indeed an LP issue ( or lack of ) just be careful doing this

I am sure will you have a vacumn leak. I have been thur the same thing and it was a vacumn leak on the manifold. The longer i ran the engine the higher the idle rpms got. Then i would lower the idle screw and i would not start when cold. rebuilt everything , still the same. found the leak with starting fluid, fixed it , ran like new again.

Nothing new.

I am not able to find a vacuum leak or anything else thats wrong. It just wont lean out. So, basically im starting over. Im getting rid of the wore out 22r thats in there now. I have a new mixer/vaporizer on order from gotpropane. Also, I am going to switch to all quality ignition parts NGK copper plugs, wires, cap and button. He also mention an Idle adjustment screw on the RE intake that I need to make sure gets plugged.
