I picked up an 84 4runner that had a bad 22r in it. I also picked up a running 22re to put in it. 22re came with harness but no computer. My question is other than a computer what else do I need? Is it worth the trouble/cost to convert over to efi since I still have to find other parts.

You have to swap the fuel tank, pump, filter, computer and I think you need to add o2 sensors. Maybe more. Just swap the intakes and keep it carbed.

Hi, I have a computer from an 87, 22re (4wd 4Runner). I think it is good for a 86/87 and maybe a 88. I'd have to check but you need to match the correct computer for the engine year. Thanks.

Best I can tell from looking online 88 had a different computer than 85-87 and 89-95

89 changed mid year. Mainly different fuel injectors, TPS, electrical connectors around the engine.

Its an 88. From what I understood on pirate was that 88 was a year that had its own injectors and other years stuff wouldn't work.

it would be easier to just keep it carbed, if you swap it to efi you'll have to swap the wiring harness that runs behind the dash and the one that runs to the rear as well. You would basically need to find another one with efi to get the harness, tank, lines, airbox, etc out of. Mixing and matching toyota efi parts can be a headache
