Doin a SYE on a 231 thats gonna have a 14 bolt behind it.The yoke options for the sye are stnd yoke or a cv style yoke that looks like the same yoke Ford used on the front of most of their 205's w a CV.So my question is this,do I need a CV or will a std 1350 joint be good.Second if I go with a CV yoke will I be able to use a cut down Ford 205 CV shaft with it.Jeep will s.o on stock Wrangler springs and will see very lite trail use.

With a stock wheel base and soa, you'll need a CV joint for sure if you want to drive it on the road. No help on the rest.

Just some thoughts...
Not sure if the CV may cause more probs than it will solve. With the stock WB and a 14 bolt, I would think your drive shaft is gonna be really short! CVs use up some length. So it may be hard to get the DS angle right. And if the angle isn't right on a CV, it will vibrate!
Being lite wheeling, you may not need the angles provided by a CV. So you could sacrifice the CV for DS length if you need it!

It really depends on what the final angle will be for the CV driveshaft.

If it is so great that it maxes out the ujoints range then you will eat ujoints fast.

In that case go ahead and do the DC driveshaft, correct your pinion angle and be golden.

In a stock short wheel base jeep with a SOA you will not be able to get away from the CV. As long as your driveshaft is a 1310 CV you should be able to have it cut down and use it.
