245/75 R16 On a GMC Suburban K2500

It should say on the side.

I won't have a load of more than 6 people (4 adults and 2 small children) and a little luggage.

45-60 is a broad range
You have this size tire? Stock on it are supposed to be 235/85 R16

Anyone else?
I figure the max for the best fuel economy...

isn't there a decal on the driver's side door jamb that specs the stock tire size and recommended inflation?

Mine is on a 2205 Sierra. The 45-60 is depending on load. I only go to the 85 with heavy loads as needed. These are the stock sizes on my truck.

The decal refers to original tires from the factory. evry tire is different. The best advise is to contact the tire manufacturer and ask one of the tech guys. That is how I got the 45-60 psi range for my tires.

You left out a little tidbit of info that's a wee bit important. LOAD RANGE.

60 is probably OK if you're not towing.

Yes I did leave that out. They are load range E and only run full pressure when loaded. The numbers I got was from Falken tech direct. I spoke with them on the phone.

So what does it say on the side of the tire that is the easy way........

Look at the side of the tire max psi vs max load and find what your load will be and go from that.

80 psi = 3000 lbs that 12000 for 4 tires
if your truck is 8000 loaded
8000/ 4 = 2000 per tire.
3000 lbs / 80 psi = 37.5 lbs per psi
2000 / 37.5 =53.33 psi for that load and that load only...
it is always better to move up for added safety
in this case I would use 60 psi.

Just use what I put down here and put your numbers in to find out what you need to run because you have yet to give us any of the info we need.

We would need the
Tire make
model
load rate
rim width
truck weight
load to be added to truck
fuel load
road temp
outside temp
and so on
as you said "I figure the max for the best fuel economy..."

If they are load range E 50lbs should give even wear. I put rears at 70-75 when carrying a lot of weight, 2000 lbs or towing alot of weight.

Get this...the stickers in the door jam says that the 245/75 16s are the right size...

1 sticker says that the pressure is 40 in the front and 40 in the rear...

another says 50 in the front and 80 in the rear...

but my speedo still is about 5mph off I think...

I'm going to stick my GPS in it and get an actual reading...

the door sticker is only accurate on PSI for the OE tires...once tires are changed you need to go by the tire manufacturers recommendations....

E rated tires have really stiff sidewalls. Mine wore on the outside if I didn't run at least 70. Makes for a harsh ride though.
