249 to 231 swap

Hey guys im new to the site. I have 96 grand cherokee ltd. w/5.2 and that POS 249 case,want to swap in 231, any info on this swap would be great or a shop who know how to do it. thanks

how hard is this swap, on a scale from 1 to 10 my mechanic skills r about a 6

I've not done it. just looked into doing it. I have rebuilt 231's and 249's including pulling and reinstalling and they are pretty simple. You shouldn't have any issues. Might need a couple special tools, but I can't think of anything, except various snap ring pliers.
