Keep it goin, you ever going to install the water/meth?
It's installed, you just can't see the two nozzles on the backside of the intake. Going to try and dyno it next week.
Then we can go to shadyside and race like true 'necks.
It turned out very sweet.
braxton check diesel truck resource looks like some dude may have found out a fix to the quad issues in the "adrenaline surge updates" thread
Dyno it on friday in asheville. Anyway, go to retorque all of the studs add IC boots and paint some things and find this... (it's an injector hold-down)
Going to fix it for now and order another I guess... I don't know what happened...torqued them all to spec with a brand new crapsman tq wrench.
What time you gonna be up here in Aville? Going to wnc speed or the other place? Let me know, I'd love to check it out. We are gettin out of work early tomorrow cause all the crews are in Texas hookin up pwr so we've got nothing to do anyways.
Damn, I totally forgot about wnc s&c. I've got an hour on the dyno tomorrow starting around 3 at appalachian performance. my # is 828 403 6561 if you want to stop by.
First, good to meet you superpile (internet names are easier ). Second, I can't say enough about the guys at appalachian performance. Ended up spending almost four hours there. Two boots blew off at different points due to the shit clamps that came with them and one trans line blew. It was that one using fuel line as a "temp fix" to get it back on the road. Oh well.
Anyway, I'll have to scan some dyno sheets but every single one cuts out at 2500rpm. The truck just sputters and bucks and struggles to make it to 3k. So for some reason it looks like I'm running out of fuel. Could be the vp, but it's doing what the adr does typically so I'm thinking that's what it is. I'm going to replace the map sensor first and if that doesn't fix anything I'm pulling the quad and putting the edge back on.
(And Eric, I did end up buying an n2o setup but never got to try it out. )
:edit: Best run made only 450hp and 967ftlb.
I'll say it, somthin ain't right
Hey braxton it was nice to finally meet you in person. I wish I coulda stayed longer or brow beat you into spraying the truck while I was there I think you've got an awesome setup that will blow up the dyno once you get it dialed in. Maybe when you swap the edge back in and get to the dyno you'll have a better idea what is amiss. I think your right it is something in the quad box acting weird cause it cuts out at 2500 so instantly, the fuel timing getting to radical and starving the VP out or something like that. Either way I'm not gonna line up with you at a red light to recieve a smack down . Props to you man and the folks a App Performance for sticking in there late on a Friday afternoon/evening.
You don't have to say it, I noticed. Probably going to sell the adr for a smarty and go back to the juice/attitude.
It was the injection pump I guess. It died and threw a code yesterday. Still runs though so it's going to until it dies for good. Sure would have been nice to have known this when I had the head off...
time for a vp44 hotrod pump now and of course a little NO2 to just add a little extra ummphh
Just replace it with a SO pump, the box ur using will prvide the electronics overide on the pump anyway. A SO pump will be much more reliable and with ur box give you the same results. I am in ur shoes as we speak.
Yup the hot rod and monster pumps are junk!
What's a SO pump? Different brand or different style pump?
Standard output pump. Just the stock pump off the non HO trucks, and the same pump his truck has now.
I see said the blind man. I've wondered for sometime if the meduim duty trucks with ISB motors rated at 275 285 325 hp where strictly a programing thing with bigger injectors or if they had a different injection pump too. Was wondering the 325hp model injection pump was what they were calling a hotrod pump. So what are you going to do for a pump now Braxton?
I'm going to try and find an SO pump "cheap". As was said, the stock "HO" pumps can't make as much power and the hrvp's--for the most part--don't make much difference if you're adding timing and fueling yourself. I can't justify the difference in price though. I would sure love to see the monster pumps be worth a shit or some actually upgraded version of the vp44. So far the only real answer is to swap to a p-pump...and fawk that.
Theres some "REAL" dyno sheets out on the monster and its not very impressive at all.
Not to mention 100% of all the honest vendors have had to replace these pumps 100% of the time, Multiple shops are claiming that every monster they have sold has failed and been replaced! Using his injectors the pumps under warranty but it does not cover labor!
Secondly, the other motors specs can be seen on cummins. the biggest diff. was injectors and ECM. still used (normally) the same vp style pump.
She motherfucking rides again!
bout damn time
Works a little better without that little trinket flying around behind the flywheel huh?
Auto or MT?
Sweeet! Heading to Mooresville for the straight diesel drag race on the 26th. Do we need to load this thing on a trailer?
