258 engine hard to start when hot

I have a 83 CJ7 with 258 (everything is stock , including the stock Carter carb ) . When it is cold , it starts right up ,when it is hot and it sits for 20 minutes or longer , it starts right up . But if I stop the engine after driving and try to start it between 10 to 15 minutes , it hard to start , it will start but takes 7 or 8 times of turning the engine over waiting a few seconds between each try . Any ideas ? thanks in advance for any advice

I would start by checking the fuel delivery system...pump and filter.
