um were to begin. i got a 89 toy with the crappy little 3.0 and im jus waiting for the head gasket to pop. untill then my friend came across this 2jz out of a wrecked supra and the wheels in my head started to turn. i have seen a straight six non turbo in a 4 runner but what about the 2jz in a pick up? needless to say the motor is in my garage broke down and being built to the gills. now here in lies the question should i or should i not. i got some one that wants the motor and is willing to pay cash and trade a 3.4 this is a dumn question but has anyone done this swap?

i put a 7mgTe out of a 89 supra Turbo into my 89 4runner when i had it, it was ALOT of work to work out all the little bugs... then i sold it and got a jeep.

y trade. ive seen plenty with a 3.4 but not a 2jz. is there a reason for that or what? i just want somthing diff but not really looking for a headache either

I think the torque curve on car engines is at a higher rpm than truck engines. that would be the only downside I can think of other than the possible circus of trying to get it to work in your truck with 4x4. however...... I did see a turbo supra motor in a late 90's model 4runner, but it was a show truck and I have only seen it once, which must mean it's possible.........

How much do you want for the motor. I've got an 89' turbo supra that needs a motor and I would rather drop a 2jz in than spend the money on the 7mgte.

^ the guy with the 3.4 has first dibbs pending i figure out what the hell i wanna do. if he dont get it and i dont use i will let ya know

tlk about torque curve at the flatts we seen a wicked sammy with a gsxr 750 motor. and i will tell you as it was so delicatly put to me "that shit is cool as a bucket of nipples":wheel:

One of the reasons the 3.4 is a popular swap is because it's relatively easy (as far asswaps go). e.g. the motor mounts already line up, it fits well, the bellhousing matches yada yada (when comin gfrom a 3.slow)

I don't know the 2jz but my bet is,you won't have these ocnveniences... or more people would do it! Yes this is a bad-ass motor, but you need to decide how much work you're willing/interested in doing. Is the starter on the same side? what bellhousing is it made to mate to? How doesi t mount in? etc etc.
Personally I'm a fan of being able torely on the collective wisdom of others whome have been there before you... but I'm also lazy and don't like to have to make $hit up on my own as I go. if you're more of a poineer and can have the truck down for awhile, go for it.

I know I'm a noob but I'm almost positive that a 2JZ has more torque and more potential than a 3.4 v motor.

This is going to sound retarded but I've dreamt of building a N/A 2JZ and putting it in an XJ on tons.

Hope you can make this happen. Will be one nasty truck.

Thats what Im thinking too. A 2jz in a lexus is rated over 200 hp

well im still up in the air right now. im still workin on the 2jz, but it will go on the dyno come the 12th. if all goes well and the rest of the parts get here that is:confused:. we shall see

yeh

id sit back for a while,i know who just redone the motor in the yellow toy,and it's not gonna blow a head gasket, you need to ship the other motor of an get the little easy $h!t fixed an wheel the hell out of it!not trying to sound like a ass , you got a great truck to wheel id keep it simple until next winter...

I've seen some of the magic 3.0s rack up 300k and still run really good. Treat the motor right and it will last. Don't let it get hot!!!!The 2jz and the 3.4 are both really cool motors but will be a pretty involved swap. Have you considered at 4.3?

If you go with the supra motor....i think you are going to start seeing problems with the T/C rear output, and most the axle parts. Thats a lot of power for Toy parts.
