Just wanted to let everyone know that High Country Help Center will hold it's 2nd Annual 4x4 Poker Run July 5th at URE. Lessens learned from the first time and I've made it a bit smaller scale. We've got Herculiner, Ergodyne and other donating for a raffle. There will be a 50/50 again. First place for the best poker hand will be $100 and worst hand will be $50. It will be starting at 10am and finish by 4pm. Each hand will be $20, free camping at group camp (site B). More details to
follow, hope to see you all there! Proceeds to benefit High Country Help Center.

I wanted to give you a little more detail about the Poker Run. This event will benefit HCHC which is a start-up non-profit that will provide 24/7 crisis intervention free to the community once it becomes operational.

I will need to get a list of those signing up for the forestry service but also if I get sandwiches donated, I will need a head count to feed. No guarantees, just something I'm working on. I'm also trying to work with Billy from HTW Alliance and waiting to hear from Optima and Warn (crossing the fingers). Also, Chris gave some interesting ideas to look at like doing a gem find through Jim's Gems for the kids, a bonfire and BBQ at King's Point Friday night (if it's available)(the BBQ would benefit another non-profit maybe). Another idea was having T-shirts for sale (maybe even long sleeves to wear through the fall). And lastly possibly an entertainer for the bonfire maybe. It's coming together slowly but just wanted to let everyone know what I'm working on.

This is less than two months away. I hope to see many of you there. I did mention free camping at group camp, right??

Ok, here is what is actually going on (I was busy with work and wasn't able to work out some details). There will be the Poker Run, 50/50 and raffle on the 5th. Camping is free at Group Camp site B. There will be the Gem find for the kids, not sure which day yet (Fri or Sat) and I won't know the price until that weekend (probably 2 dollars a bag) but they will have real gems and fossils and such. There will be Fireworks on the Lake (I'm assuming the 4th but it may be the 5th). Donators so far are Herculiner and Ergodyne (toolbags). I'm waiting still to hear from some others. I will keep everyone updated with anything new. I have to have folks register so I know how many people to tell the rangers are coming. Please email me or call me if you are able to come 336-200-0182

What exactly is a Poker run?

There are 4 stops along a "scenic" route (for us it will be trails) and you draw a card at each stop. Your fifth card is drawn at base camp and the best hand wins. The cards are written down on paper for tallying after the last card is drawn. Each one is done a little differently.

Additional Info

Additional info:
There will be a Gem Find July 4th starting at Noon. It will be $2 a bag or 3 bags for $5. Bags will have real gems and fossils and such for the kids to pan for. This will be great entertainment for them while you set up camp. Gems provided by Jims Gems and Gold and troughs provided by the outpost.
Friday night will be Fireworks on the Lake, viewable from King's Point. I figure whoever wants to can drive up there and watch from numerous spots. I didn't reserve the pavalion this year. Looking at bigger things next year like Brunswick Stew and entertainment.

Raffle list:
$100 gift certificate from Herculiner
4 Tool bags from Ergodyne
2 shirts from Ergodyne
mechanics gloves
earrings made by Sandy Walker
Boot planters arranged by Sandy Walker
Italian Suede jacket from Tom Woods (redonated from JB, too small for him) :)

2 weeks left. I need numbers for the rangers, so if you know you are going or want to go, please let me know. Any questions just ask.

1 week everyone, 1 week! We've got about 20 rigs signed up so far. If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Some families coming too.

Not too late, talked to the rangers and we are well below the permit level so they aren't worried.

Woohoo!!!!!!! Can't wait. Just a couple more days! My family, friends, and I are looking forward to the weekend, the events, and meeting new people. :driver:

I'll be there around 10am Thurs. I sure hope there are some kids for my 9 yr old boy to to play with. His cousin decided not to go and I'm not looking forward to having him up my butt the whole time.

So far there are two other little ones. I don't know if Sandy is bringing her nephew who is older and if some of the older boys I've ridden with in the past are showing up. We'll keep him entertained him some way :D

Yes Sher, I am James. Jimmy Hank is just a nickname that my sister gave me as a joke a while back. I'll have my almost 3 year old daughter and my friends will have their 1 year old son out there. If we have room, I might bring my daughters jeep. lol. We'll shooting for being there no later than 1100. See you all on Friday!!!:bounce2:

At the very least, we will have fun hanging out and trailing. See everyone there. We will also be having some T-Shirts for sale.
