Ok my truck is getting to where it needs motor bad #3 isnt even firing till it warms up. Its an 86 22r truck somwhat truggy and im planning on fully rewiring very soon so grafting into the stock harness is no issue i want it pretty simple but im not scared of wiring. Im stuck between either rebuilding my 22r which is a fairly modified motor and running a gm tbi and ms1 for fuel and msd 6al running spark or a 2rz with probably ms2 hopefully a cop motor. Im not looking for much more power just dont wanna rebuild a 22r when i could have the 2rz for a little more. I also have a good friend who has done a few mega squirt cars from a tpi third gen camaro on ms1 to a 944 on ms3x with almost 28psi

Me personally, I'm currently dumping $ in a 22RE, sticking with ole reliable. If I was to go through the hassle of a swap though, I'd go LS in a heartbeat. For the money they can't be beat. Strong aftermarket support, good fuel economy, and reliability also.

What are you doing to your 22re? I like ls motors but ive been happy with the hp of my 22r and i dont really break parts and an ls even a 4.8 would kill my truck.

Engnbldr street/rv head, their torker cam. Long tube header, .40 fresh bottom end. MC clutch. Deciding whether to get stock injectors serviced or go with newer Bosch units.

The motor currently in my truck is gasket matched ports with bigger valves, dual vavle spring, .270 cam, ebay header and an msd from what everyone whose ridden with me says its to best running na 22r but the carb sucks and im sure most of the motor is gonna need to be replaced

I put a gauge on it a while back and #3 was in the 40s

a gm 4.3 swap would be a good cost-effective way to get good power for a toyota. even a stock 4.3 would outdo a 22r or 2rz and have great torque and reliability at the same time. keep the oem tbi setup and it would be minimal wiring

Im not looking for that much power even, after talking to a few people on here and pirate im gonna just rebuild my 22r and use a 4.3 tbi and probably out a small turbo on it later

You can get a short block 22R from Poteat's in Kannapolis for $675 with warrenty.

My vote is the 2rz/3rz. Your damn near doubling the HP of a 22r in one shot. Its bolt in if you get the chillkat motor mounts. If your not afraid of wiring, thin the harness out and incorporate it into your existing dash.
