I have a nice 1999 V8 2wd WJ that I got for free from my sister when see got a new commander.

I love to go to the beach and currently don't have a 4wd. I was thinking about a possible build with this Grand Cherokee.

I have always wanted to run 36" Iroks so what do you think needs to happen to fit them??

For a t-case I was looking into a 4wd 45rfe trans and an Atlas or a divioced Atlas and mount.

Or??

im sure you know this, but im gonna throw it out there for all the newbs reading this.

in the long run your better off selling your 2wd and buying a 4wd. unless you can fab everything yourself and have deep pockets.

What kind of axles are you planning on running?

For an XJ, I thought the 4x2 to 4x4 conversion was actually fairly straight forward (donor tranny/t-case/driveshafts, front axle), bolt it up to the unibody...not sure about the new-fangled WJ though, especially once you start throwing the Atals and 36" IROKs in the build

I think if you are planning on swapping t-case and axles anyway, the only real complication is getting the shifters in. Cable shifters have made that pretty easy, so I say go for it!
