I haven't had any luck finding any 4WD Cherokee's for cheap around here in my area. I found a 2WD cherokee though. It's a 1995 Cherokee Sport it runs good and the only thing wrong with it is something is wrong with the door he can't get it open unless he pulls the door panel off. It's really nice and he's only asking $750 for it. How hard is it to convert a cherokee to 4WD?

one of my friends bought a working 4wd 96 for 500 bucks. Had power windows...most working, and air conditioner...also working.

Mind you...he bought this right before summer hit.

Keep an eye out, you'll find one eventually.

yeah I wouldnt buy a 2wd with the hopes of converting it, especially since your budget for the inital vehicle is only 1000.00.

There are plenty out there, how far are you willing to travel to get it?

Finding someone to give up a 4wd cheap in hickory seems to me would be harder then around the coast, just purely for the winter time up there.

I bought a 95 for 600.00 a few years ago, they are out there man, just keep up the hunt.

I'm definitely staying on the hunt for one. I've regretted selling my old '89 Cherokee! I'm looking for something I can daily drive and wheel a little here and there mostly for daily driver purposes. It's a really nice and clean Jeep and it runs good.

THis one is close.

thats what i found with a quick search of this site along.

They pop up pretty often for cheap, just be patient and you'll get what you want. Took me 5 years to find the deal i got on my cruiser

not worth 750$ for a 2wd if you want a 4...
keep looking.

if its what ya want i dont see it being to much......Few D30's on here for 50-150 dollars. get a 231 tcase on the cheap and a drive shaft and.......bolt it all in.

will need the 4wd aw4 but once again can be found cheap. just depends on the time and skill you have avalible

Doesn't sound too bad. Thanks for the help! I think i'm gonna go pick up the Jeep this weekend. Back when I had my '89 I never really even had to put it in 4WD that I can remember it did just fine riding the trails in 2WD. All it had was a 2" budget boost with cut fenders and 33's. That thing was an animal!

Well, from what Ive heard changing a 2wd cherokee to a 4wd is more difficult then one would think.

I was under the impression it would be easy as well, then I heard some horror story about a guy who tried it, and it took him well over the cost of the vehicle alone to do it. Dont exactly remember why, but there was some difference between the 2wd and the 4 that he did not notice before he undertook the project.

I think I may have lucked up. A friend of mine has a 4WD 1994 Cherokee that he flipped awhile back it only had 105,000 miles on it. It still runs/drives and he said he was just gonna scrap it but he said if I wanted any parts off of it I could have them. Maybe the swap won't be so bad after all

seems to me that after the aggravation and time it would be more econimical to buy a 4wd and it would be complete and work the first time. .02

Im with you. I would be willing to spend at least 500 if not 1000 more to avoid swapping out the whole drivetrain. Unless your really tight on money or just love doing stuff like that.
