Does anyone here have experience with swapping a 3.4 into a pickup/4runner? I've read over on yota tech and it sounds interesting. I have a lead on a dirt cheap 2000 4runner that has been rolled and I would like to swap in the 3.4 into my 93 4runner. It seems pretty bolt in on a manual tranny, but the later autos have a drivers side drop for the transfer case instead of the passenger on mine. How about a 5 speed swap? Seems that all would be needed would be the trans, tc, a pedal and some hydr lines. Would I need new drives shafts? Anyone have any ideas?

Anyone done this swap?? I thought my 4runner was running a little rough and today the head gasket blew. I've searched on yota tech and pirate just wondering if anyone around here has done the swap.

I am a bit confused by your question frankly. Is the 93 a manual or an auto? And are you trying to use the tranny from the 2000? I've never done the swap personally, but have done a ton of research into the matter. Most people from what I understand keep the existing trans from the 3.0(generally a 5speed) and just bolt up the 3.4 to it.

Yes, the 93 is an auto. What I would like to do is bolt the 3.4 onto the 93 auto tranny. I know with a 5 speed it bolts right up, but I've heard with an auto there are some issues. There isn't a whole lot of info about the swap to an auto transmission.
