Ok, so I just picked up a D44 and 9" axles for the XJ. I got a great deal on them, but the problem is that they do not have the same bolt pattern. The front is from a Waggy, so it is 6 on 5.5 and the rear is 5 on 5.5. To toss another pattern in the mix.... I love my wheels/tires that are already on the XJ and they are 5 on 4.5.

So, do I just get adapters for the new axles and keep my old XJ wheels?

OR.... do I continue wathing the for sale section attempting to pick up wheels with the proper lug patterns.... or what?

Thoughts.....?

You cannot put the 5 on 4.5 pattern on the waggie front. The hub will not physically fit. Personally, I would convert the front D44 to 5 on 5.5 (just spindles, and hubs/rotors - we have them at www.eastcoastgearsupply.com) and get new wheels. 6 on 5.5 shafts for the 9" would be a custom setup and not worth the $$. 5 on 5.5 wheels are pretty easy to find.

Yes.... it's for an XJ. The Waggy 44 is already set up for an XJ, freshly regeared and locked. I got a good deal on it. If I could pick up a Ford D44 in great shape with 4.88's and locked for $1000 I would do that.

Id keep waggy if its pre 84 ive seen many of the ford 44's break ujoints like crazy never known why tho! Hell diff wheels will give it a special look haha

I'm not that worried about having different wheels. It's just my wheeler since the Durango took off DD duties. I am going to attempt to get matching wheels though. I should be able to find some cheap bullet holes in both lug patterns. I already found two sets with 6x5.5.

Then again..... I'm considering selling it and holding off on the axle swap, so if anyone is interested in it please let me know. I'll be in NC the first week of June all week and could deliver it.

Ok, I have decided to go this route and convert the waggy axle to 5x5.5. I just need a list of the parts I need. I'll be back down in NC for a visit the first week of June and want to get this done while I'm there, so that I can maybe bring the XJ back up to MD with me.... or at least have it all ready to bring up after my next visit.
