Well I just got the XJ registered today.

What do y'all recomend for a 3" XJ lift. Please only reply if you have owned, used or installed the lift, no "my baby's mama's new boyfriends daddy's uncle has one" deal...

I am thinking buying a lift with the springs included instead of the add a leaf will give me a better ride and flex, right?

I have owned rusty's stuff in the past, and his price seems reasonable, any suggestions on his stuff?

Back in the late 90's we installed a Rough Country 3" kit.
It was spring and a add a leaf. We never really liked it because it didn't come with lower/longer arms. It also rode kinda rough. With the 3" we got a Rubicon Express Track bar and that helped out a lot. Just my .02

We have a Tomkin 6" kit now and really like it with the adjustable lowers and rear springs.

I just got a 97 XJ and I will be going with the Rubicon Express 3.5 Super Ride kit w/rear springs

my friends buddy has one with a..............:flipoff2:

Seriously i install alot of superlift and full throttle lifts, and i've been really happy with the ease of installation. I'm also a dealer for them so i might be able to hook up on something, or build you a 4 link with some 1tons or rockwells :flipoff2:

I've also done a fair share of shitty ebay lifts and they suck, but we won't go into those. I think the last XJ i did was a shitty ebay lift and i ended up drilling like 43 holes, it sucked and was suppose to bolt on

Let me know if you need anything done

OK.. depends on how you want it to ride but:

Running 31's and riding like a Caddy:
(1) Old Man Emu HD lift w/ OME shocks

Running 31's/32's/33's and riding almost like a Caddy:
(1) Rubicon Express 3.5" Superflex kit (cutting/bumpstopping may be required to run larger tires)

Here's my XJ w/ RE 3.5" Superflex on 245x75x16's

Here it is w/ the same lift and 285x75x16's:

I am partial to Rubicon Express stuff... but also like RK long arms, Full Traction Long arms, TNT stuff,etc...

Tell us your plans for the XJ...
Chris

can you measure from ground to top of your XJ with that RE lift and chrome with your Rusty's... I live in prepville now and i gotta keep it in the garage

Plans are as follows:

Fix needed stuff:

Fix the non existant floor boards (rusted out)

find out why 4 wheel drive isnt working correctly.. either xfer case chain or ring gear

Brake job with the ZJ rear conversion

Full service and new belt tension pulley (squeaks like a bitch)

Upgrades:

Lockrite in the rear
LineX the interior
Front and rear bumpers
Rock lights
some sort of lift
Rock rails
Internal cage at some point with 5pt harness
Skids, including diff
CO2 tank
some sort of tire and rim package, whatever fits with the lift
Custom Art Lilley Paint Patch
waterproof stereo system

thats a quick scratch list for now

I have been from stock to the current 6" on the same vehicle. First lift was Rough Country and Rustys Full AAL. Front springs eventually sagged. Added 2" spacer and 1" block to the rear and was sitting around 4.5. I also added the RC trac bar bracket and Rustys control arms. Changed front springs for Rock Krawler 6" coils and added 2" shackles along with RK adjustable trac bar, bracket and drop pitman arm.. Currently has 6" of lift and rides great. I trimmed and added TJ flares. I run some 33's and no Bump stops. I stuffs great too. However it is going under the knife again for axles, more lift SYE and some 38's. HTH
