The only real thing ASU gained from the win was respect, which the whole Championship division has been lacking...

seriously, how many A+ players have come out of the Championship Division and went on to play a huge role in NFL teams (Flacco for one) and the whole division just doesn't get the respect it deserves.

one thing bugging me here is the whole "we" thing. Unless you were on the team, there is no "we", there is only "they", as in, they worked their asses off to win that game while you sat on YOUR ass and watched on tv

I agree completely

Look at the Titans roster over 30% of the players are from the Championship Division, So I agree with ya again

Here is where I disagree, It is possible to get to overboard with this, But the average guy that refers to his team as "we" and "us" should have the right to. I may sit and watch from the side lines but the money paid to the school is reason they can play, so I believe it entitles a person, It no difference than a sponsor stating that "there" car or team won. If I spend $150 attending a pro game, I should have the right to feel I am helping with the team, With out fans there would be no games.

Agreed 100%...

Disagree with this...straight from Bill Polian's mouth, 90% of NFL players come from 1A programs. So that leaves 10% from 1-AA and 2 and where ever else, so not very many even get the opportunity. There's a reason some guys go 1A and others go 1AA...because there's a talent differential. It's not a lack of respect as much as a lack of talent. Believe me, very rarely do college recruiters make mistakes or miss somebody, and it's even more rare for scouts to miss somebody (doesn't mean they can prevent busts though).

I agree 100% here as well. Sure be a fan, but you didn't do a damn thing. Your ass wasn't awake and running by 530, go straight to class, then straight to 4 hours of practice, then 'voluntary' work, then school work and hopefully be in bed by 1am. There is no 'we' about it...athletes put up with the fans because they pay the bills. In some cases the fans attitudes and arrogance are the worst part of the game...just a little FYI from the locker room. It is in fact a double edged sword, but it's the truth.

I guess thats why I pass 1000 people a day who still have the 1998 National Championship personalized Tennessee license plate?

Sure enough, at practice, we never focused on something that happened 12 years ago...we focused on the next week's win. For the record, I do think there is a slight difference between winning a national title and winning a game.

ehhh...I played at UT at I still say the team is they and I'm a fan, complete distinction. I've never met most the guys on the team now, I'm not bleeding and sweating with them and I'm surely not the one that threw a block downfield to free the runningback for the winning td. I realize everyone wants to be part of something great, but in reality, if you're not part of that team, you didn't do anything to be part of them.

I tend more toward 'they' or 'Tech' or 'the Hokies', as much because everyone I know thinks 'we' is State or maybe Carolina!

Whoever your team happens to be, it will be a good weekend for college football!

Without the financial support of season ticket sales, boosters, tuition, etc. there would be no team to win anything.
