recently bought a 01 Cherokee sport 4.0 inline 6cyl; 16600 miles, one owner, after owing it and driving approx 2500 miles, i keep getting a misfire 303 error code, I've changed plugs , got a insulator sleave for the #3 injector wire, can clear the code, and it comes back about every 50-75 miles of driving. anyone have any suggestions please? 1st Cherokee I have owned and love it.
Thank you

i always google the error code have to go thur a few post to find it but never have not found the answer for the code

plug wires? ignition coil? if its still coming up the issue is still there.....

Sounds like a bad coil on that cylinder. I had the same problem a while back on my 04 Durango put a new coil on it and the problem went away. I believe being a 01 4.0 you have a coil bar which has all six coils on it. Not sure if the individual coils are changeable or you have to change the whole coil bar. Looking at Advance Auto site the coil is all one unit for all 6 cylinders. You may be able to find it cheaper at a salvage yard.

Thanks for the advise, I'll go to Advance Auto, the scrap yards have already been picked clean of this part.

If you haven't already purchased it look in the thread below you will find a link for a Advanced Auto tell a friend and it will get you $35 off $85. I have used it several times.

one way to check the coils is to swap the coil with "cylinder 3 misifre" with one of the other 2. if when you swap it the misfire code changes to a different cylinder then theres your problem.

also check your grounds to the coil and the injectors and if you can use some of the lucas FI cleaner. works wonders on my jeep. there is that very slight possibility of carbon build up
