has anyone ever put a 304 in a yj? what does it consist of? i know the tranny will bolt up the only thing is will my stock motor mounts off of a 4.2 work and can i use cj7 fenderwell headers?

The 304/360/401 will drop right in. You will have to change the motor mounts though. (no big deal) Yes the tranny will bolt up and you can use the stock skid plate if you position the motor correctly. You need to use a minimum 3 core rad ( you can get one for the stock YJ). As for the headers, Don't bother. The in frame will work with a little fab, but in the long run the stock manifolds will do you a lot better job with NO issues. ( been there done that) Awsome mod for sure.

what motor mounts do i need? there is no way to make the fenderwell headers work? i was wanting to put side pipes on it but if it is going to be a major deal i wont bother

that is all my jeep is for. street driving. i have my toyota for my trail rig would the ax15 bolt in place of the 10 and would it be any better?

IIRC the AX-15 will bolt right in and it is tons better than the BA-10 could ever dream of being.

I would question the cost/benefit of a 304 vs. the add ons to the I6

The 304 has a ton more torque than the 6, but if your going to the issue of bolting in a 304, just do a 360. Everything will be the same and you will get way more power from the 360.

all I am saying on the 304, is the money spent to get it in a YJ, if spent on an I6 would produce better power/wt.

While it is true a 304 makes more torgue than the I6, it also weighs a lot more.

just my .02....

not being a smart a#% but do you know how much more? and from my understanding all i need is motor mounts. if there is anything else i need to do let me know. i really need all the help i can get.

Don't forget about the wiring that will associated with it as well. Most upgrade the distributor too. If I remember correctly you will have to swap the pilot bearing to match. If I were going to rebuild a motor, I would at least find a 360.

all i need as far as wiring is one hot wire from the ignition to the coil i have already bypassed the computer and did a put an hei distributor on the i6 which is what i plan to do on the v8
