The engine is at the rebuilder and they called and said I need a new timing cover. They showed me where the oil pump gears go there is some scoring of the walls and they think I will loose a lot of oil pressure if we leave it that way. None of the local auto parts stores can get it, I found one new for big$$$ does anybody know of a jeep junkyard that might have something like this? I am going to post in the wanted section as well. I am told that a 304 and the 360 cover is the same part. The builder needs this part yesterday so if anybody can help me out I would sure appreciate it.
Thanks
Kevin

to each his own, when I built my 401, the timing cover was scored pretty bad on the inside from the oil pump gears rubbing

I used it and my rebuilt 401 has 60 psi cold an when warm never drops below 25 psi

I got my dip stick tubes from the Mopar dealer. Ask for a later 80's model G-Wag
I paid 7.65 a piece....I had to buy two...install is a pain. I had to drill it out a little bigger a RTV to be sure. If you force it will bend and break.

BJ's Offroad has cheaper timming covers...good stuff Bulltear likes there stuff way to much for my budget.

Man that unit from BJ's is by far the best price I have found. I don't need the oil pump gears as the engine rebuild came with it. It doesn't say who makes it, but do y'all think the unit from Acme or Quadratec would be any better?
My son and I talked last night and decided to go new, if I buy another used it could be scored more than the one I have. Only want to do this once.
Just not sure which one to order now. Thanks again for the link.

Crown and Chrysler are the only people making new timing covers for AMC engines. All of the $200 or so priced are from Crown. I have installed a few of them and they are good quality units.
