33's or 35's

I put a 4" inch RC X series lift in my 97 tj once installed it actually ended up giving me just about 5" inches. I know there will be some settle after I drive it for a while but I currently have 31x10.50's on it and have 8-10 inches of fender clearance all the way around.

My orginal plan was to put a set of 33x1250 Mickey thomas MTZ on it but now that I see the clearance I got I was wondering if I would be further ahead to go with the 35's. I am planning to put 4.88 gears in it also.

I don't really want to cut the fenders right now so I was thinking if I needed a little more clearance I could throw a 1 or 2 inch body lift in it to make sure the 35's clear.

Any thoughts on this.

Keep in mind that MTZs that show 35in actually measure closer to 33in. Also the Dana 30 in the front is not rated for much past 33. Irun 35s and havent had any problems with it. A 1-2 body lift is not bad. It actually made my TJ better because I can wash the top of my drivetrain better now.
I say 35s BFG KM2s....35-1250-15. Check out the pics in truck gallery section.

Nice looking Jeep you got there if I could steel a set of 4.0 stickers mine would look just like. (Same color any ways)What kind of suspension lift you got in it I don't see a transfer drop, just wondering what height you put in yours.

The 30 is not the one I'd be worried about.:shaking:
why would you say that, i would hope the guy already has a dana 44 in the rear or 35s would be pushing it.:shaking: Not all TJs came with a dana 35 and if he has one then definately stay with 33s until you can switch out to a dana 44 in the rear

I have 3in Rusty springs in the front and 2in pro comp springs in the rear. The extra in up front is for bumper and winch weight. I also have a 2in body lift. Everything else is stock except for the shocks and urethane bushings. Also changed the brakelines. also changed the bumpstops around to allow for flex with the shocks. Works great and I can replace a factory control arm for pennies if damaged.

Well I guess that clears that up.:bounce2:

Yes I still have the stock D35 in the rear I am doing this in phases, I also still only have a 4 banger in it. I understand the D35 is a weak axle and if I go with 35's right now I will have to tread lightly.

But I also don't want to waist 800.00 on 33's if I can fit 35's now ultimately it will have 8.8 under it But right now I would rather get some decent tires on it because it looks pretty rediculous with 31x10.50 and a 5" lift.

Gotta start some where!!!!!!!! :driver:

I got a full set of factory control arms I'll give you just to get them out of my garage!

^^^^Cool, you are the man, also be easy with the 35s until you get the 8.8. Also keep an eye out for a Dana 44 out of a TJ. I found mine in Dillion, SC and just changed gears and bolted it up for $800.00. Here and Craigslist one will pop up.

Let me know if you want those control arms. I was actually planning on cleaning the garage this week and they were on the list to be dumpstered.

Thanks to all for the suggestions I beleive I'll skip the 33's and put the 35's on and just tread lightly until I upgrade the axle. Which will happen sooner then later just have to sneak the money past the wife.
