not sure if anyone on here can help but its worth a shot

posting for my father in law so bare with me

he's got a 93 pete 379 with a 3406b cat about 80k mi ago had the engine rebuilt "in frame" had new cat packs installed they said counter bores were good head was sent out freshened up came back good everything was put back together truck ran good plenty of power. 40k after rebuild put a new radiator and cap on it and it has had air bubbles since then. they did a carbon dioxide test on coolant said it was good, bypassed the air compressor still had bubbles in coolant. they then pulled the head off and the gasket was good installed a new spacer plate gasket and put back together still had air bubbles mechanic told him to run it so he has been now another 40k later it started pushing coolant and still has bubbles , he's going to try a new radiator cap on it, he's called mechanic and was told to keep running it. looking for opinions on what it could be radiator? cracked liner? cracked head? needles to say he's not happy been trucking for over 30 years and knows something is wrong.

any help would be great thanks

Sounds like he's done all the usual stuff. Anyone put a pressure gauge on the radiator, just for giggles, I know you said it's pushing it out, but how High Is the pressure. My 3176 blew the gasket, & was about to blow the radiator!

Have the head checked by someone else if the head gasket is good it can be a cracked head a cracked liner will put water in oil as well injecter will put water in oil if its not the air compressor its in the head or head gasket

im going to ask him about putting a pressure gauge on it, its not building a lot he said its been pushing it out off and on over the past couple days, its not mixing fluids its just getting air or probably compression in it, I've heard bad things about the guy that did the head so he probably missed something but the blocks never been touched so thinking the liner seats were bad but he was told they were good.

From experience, I knew an injector would dump fuel, in the oil. Did not know it could dump water. Some-days, I learn something new!

Always call cat to check your liner seats no matter what anyone tells you if Joe blow checks or bores your block its yours if cat does it and something goes wrong they will stand behind it labor and parts when it comes to big motors there is only a hand full of guys in the state that has the right equipment to work on them if you have heard bad things about them don't give them a 3000$ head to check find a good one word of mouth goes a long ways
