Ok so my k5 has a small problem... Hard shift to start but when i go to get on it up hill its like the throttle is not going down or trans wont drop gear to speed up what could be causing this? I know my carb is not in best condition but still delivers fuel right, any suggestions would be great im simply trying to eliminate having to go through every option thanks in advance fellas!

First check the fluid(engine running in park)
If fluid level is OK, on the passenger side at the rear of the pan (just above the pan) you will see the modulator(will have a vaccum line on it) with engine running see if you have vaccum or if fluid comes out when you pull the line off of the modulator.(should have vaccum and no fluid)

I need to know a little more before I can tell you anything else

How long has it done this?
How fast are you going when it happens and what gear is the trans in?
(Your trans will shift twice you will have a 1-2 shift and a 2-3 shift)
Have you checked the kick down cable?(will be connected to the Carb next to the throttle cable, )(with the pedal pushed to the floor, the cable should be at the end of it's pull without inhibiting the the Carb from wide open throttle)

Ok been doing it since i bought it only owned it 4 months now ill check vacc tom and carb to see if any of that is how you described thanks ill inform ya asap!! Thanks again

Speed when it happens is under 40mph. and the kickdown you described sound just like the problem it wont allow me to push gas pedal all the way to floor ill take a look thanks
