Yes you heard right. 35's and no lift. Ive had this build thread around for a little bit, just decided to post it here. Here goes. So far the first few pics is how it came. Except for my 35's. The roof was already cut, the cage was already in. specs so far are 4.0, auto, d30 d35 rubicon express hack an tap, lockers f/r. Oh and I know....its a d35.

Start of a rear bumper. I am going to wrap it around the corners, and tie into the unibody frame some more as well.
All in all its been a great project and fun to do.
It couldnt get worse. only better.:bounce2:

KINDA LOOKS LIKE A JEEPSTER NOW. I LIKE THE TRIM TRIM TRIM SOME MORE METHOD YOU WORK WITH SIR

So it has stock springs and short arms..........35s without "lifting" the jeep would be cool but it doesn't look very functional.

Doesnt look very functional? well it has the same geometry as all of the other xjs you see on the road. My budget is so tight it isnt even funny. I just bought a house and didnt need to take on another project(Me and my wife rescue siberian huskies) So my budget is non existent. As for long arms, yeah I may upgrade later on down the road. I dont like to use the stock stuff but it worked for the almost twenty years they made the xj so for now it will work for me. It can only get better.

yessir. even if it may not float. its my first non bolt on build so I am learning a lot about fab. I used to do a lot of welding when I was younger but settled more recently with vehicles that didnt need any work done. I felt it was time to finally do something different.

I am just worried you might tear that plastic end off the front bumper, doesn't that keep you up at night worrying??????HAHAHA Just kidding,I think it's kind of cool.I looked over the pics ten times and they grew on me every time!!!!!!Nice Job!

but I need those plastic caps. I dont want the soccer moms giving me funny looks when I get groceries in my stock xj......well maybe the caps are the least of my worries. they will be going, just haven't yet. Its too hot to even look at the thing today so fab work will have to wait til the sun goes down.

i love the looks of a non or small lift with big tires. looks great. i cut teh fenders outta my yota and i thought it would be a good idea to get teh plastic/rubber trim you get at autozone/advance that goes around doors, fenders etc. you kno, like the guy you alwasy pass in a pontiac sunfire that has chrome trim everywhere and he thinks it looks cool. just an idea so you wont chop you rtires

Thanks! Ill keep that in mind.....should I go with chrome...and get some of those sticky non functional vents too? Nah. But seriously, I will look into the trim. Im not worried about the rear, I welded those smooth so no cutting should happen there but the fronts may be a different story. Now, I may lift it about 2 inches, just because for right now I am burned out of fabricating. I have been working on this ever night for about a month straight now after work. The rear clears fine and flexes fine but the front of course has some rubbing.

not a bad option at all. I was actually leaning towards some spacers. good price for sure.
ordered.

What up man Its Jake from JF's I got some s10 springs you could make a small bastard pack out of 2-3 inches if you want for real cheap.

well all i got to say is if it runs and drives its pretty functional. better center of gravity that way and not as top heavy as a lifted rig. cool project!

Yes, the steering is the only issue to sort out yet. I have enough backspacing where if I was lifted would work like a charm. however, I dont so yes there is a little rubbing. I was toying with the idea of spacers, but wouldnt that make my steering more inclined to rub? (it makes sense in my mind anyways) But some inner fender trimming and fab work will be coming still.

Igetthebudgetproblems - but 2" coil spacers cost what, $30? Then blocks or longer shackles in back, and you've got "the lift" you need.
