found this on ebay. kinda expensive, but it is a new rebuilt head with all the conversion machine work done. my question is this: They claim
"YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS FOR THE CHANGEOVER:
1. A 4.0 HEAD GASKET
2. NEW 1/2 INCH HEAD BOLTS.
3. 4.0 EXHAUST MANIFOLD OR HEADERS.
4. A 4.0 VALVE COVER"
do i not also need an intake and fuel system? or can i run my intake and keep a carb on it?

You can run your intake and carb, but you may have to modify it a bit to get it to seat on the 4.0 head.
Also, there really is no "conversion machine work" that has to be done. Search on the web, there are lots of ways to fill the water jackets without machine work.

I haven't heard anything bad about Clearwater's heads. The cost will be close to the same if you go and pull a head then have the machine work done. The water jackets can be filled with Quiksteel, or JB weld. The exhaust manifold should be the kind with the accordian style tubing on #1 & #6 tubes. The head bolt issue depends on what year engine you have as to whether or not you need spacers for 7/16" head bolts (you can pick them up from Summit or Jeg's racing websites).
Here's some sites for more info;

Alot of the info is the same, but there are 'additional' gleenings from each site.

Later, T.J.
