4.0 Inline 6 engine question

My 1998 jeep grand cherokee distributor locked up while driving. I have another 4.0 inline 6 engine that came out of a 1993 jeep grand cherokee. Will my 1993 engine be compatible with my 98 jeep? I assumed since it was the same engine there wouldn't be an issue, however I was told the wiring harness are different and some computer components wouldn't be compatible so it won't run. The inside of my 93 and 98 has the same seats, the 4 wheel drive lever is in the same spot, the shifter looks exactly the same. Dash is slightly different. I know the computer is different which i guess could be the biggest problem.

Short answer is yes the long block will work you will have to use the 98 accessories and electronics IIRC. 93 was OBD1 and 98 was OBD2.

Swap the intake manifold and all sensors from the 98 onto the 93 long block. The accessory drive is also different. Swap the water pump and all belt driven items as well
