I got another part to my wrangler project. Eaton m90. Hit a wall with the engine management system. I had wanted to run a 98 system I had, but I'd need to reflash it for a map sensor capable of reading boost and fuel/ignition tables accordingly. As far as I've seen on the interwebz, SCT is the only solution. Alternately I conjured the idea of running the 3.8 system with the Jeep injectors, making it a mass air system and again flashing but instead to eliminate the auto trans control (don't think fuel/spark would be much different from the 3.8 as the 4.0 is only 5.3% more displacement, fuel trim should take that up, or so would an adjustable FPR). Third thought was megasquirt but after looking at prices... Not so much. I could go with a obd1 harness and ECM with a split second but didn't price that yet.

What say y'all? (Other than put in a LS/LQ motor.. I'm bent on doing this.) It will either end up with meth/water injection or an intercooler. I've done a bit of research on the engine/boost portion but the FI system is where I've run in to lacking information.
Done right, the motor will survive. I'm only looking for 6-8 psi. Stroker is going in my DD, I don't think I'd be happy if I built the stroker, charged it and then went back to my obese xj with a stock NA 4.0 for the week. I'd be down to pay someone to tune the xj PCM.. if I go the GM route, I'd want to do it cheap cheap. It kills me because it's simply code and coded tables since I was supposed to be a designer of such things.... (Nevermind, that's part of my life story I don't normally disclose..)

Did more research, apparently the SBEC computers ARE flash-capable. There is a following for Chrysler turbo SBECs but Jeep is uncharted territory. Good thing I did some work with microcontrollers back in college. Probably end up going that route, especially considering the relative simplicity/elegance of the computer. I can set up a simulator and play with the fuel/timing maps and make sure it's modifying correctly before ever putting it in hardware. Unfortunately, I'll lose having the option of the CCD overhead console from the zj, unless of course I data log the data used and add the code to the sbec for it.. (OK further reading suggests I may have to swap the chip in the SBEC for a flash chip, no big deal though. I'll find out)
