4.5 and 35s on xj

ok so i am goin to cut my fender wells out. if a 6.5 lift will hold 35s, then why cant a 4.5 lift with cut wells hold 35s. i had a xj b4 and with cut wells it would hold 32s. so if any one done this let me know.
 
It can be done, but I'd want adjustable arms, or longarms to push the front axle a little bit forward. And don't forget the bumpstops. BTW i fit 35's on my zj with only 4.5-5" lift
 
i ran 35s on my 35 with 4.5-5" lift. cut the fenders and add bumpstops get the Rough Country drop brackets to get a little more flex if you decide to keep your budget low
