4.5" Grinders

"have a 7" makita (make a man of you) it's been going for 20 years. I try to minimize grinding, it's not as much fun as it used to be."

Amen to that.....I had a student who wanted to do nothing else. The running joke are you a welder or grinder? He wanted to be a fitter/grinder.

In 24 years of wrenching and fabricating I think most of the nerve damage came from the first 6 or 7 years using 10 inch disc on air grinders for everything. Employer thought small grinders where a waste. Those mothers made centrifugal torque that would give any good motorcrosser arm pump.

Looked alot like these made by Sioux. And just as expensive. Take out the silencing packing and bore the exhaust ports out and chug it down flat on some half inch plate. Sounded like a hoped up Harley.

Yup, those are solid. I bought mine at Lowes and have used the absolute HELL out of it and it still cuts everything like its brand new. Before using these, I would run through a pack of 5 abrasives very, very quickly. Not so much now.
Just picked one of these up to help with my rust busket chop job, hope they hold up seem solid tho for $14

I've had a few harbor freight units in the past and they work ok but not a lot of power and get hot quickly. I only run Milwaukee stuff right now and while I have killed one of their smaller units, they have been great so far. One of my best investments was a M18 fuel combo with a 9.0 battery. It has almost as much power as my corded grinders but is so much more convenient.

Trick tools has a deal on a pair of Fein WSG-7 ($99), have just about worn out another Dewalt, ordering them today.
