guys i am thinking about get a toyota pickup 80's thruogh 90's and i can not decide betwwen a 4 or a 6 pros and cons somebody? i probably will use this as my everyday driver

don't get the v6... that's about all you need to know

but seriously, the 22re gets better gas milage, has more aftermarket support, easier to find parts for, etc, etc, The weakness is the timing chain, if it's never been replaced you will probably need to.

the 3.0 has head gasket issues, tend to be a bit more unreliable and gets worse gas milage.

I am running a 22re that has 230,000 on it and it purrs like a kitten, never had an issue except the alternator.

that's my 2 cents for what it is worth, I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge on the subject will chime in as well.

For an 80's era toy the 4cyl (22r and 22re) are far fetter of a choice. They get better milage, excellent reliablity, and the HP differance between the 2.4 and the 3.0 isn't that much. There are also some reliablity problems with the V6 also. I recommend the 22re (fuel injected) if you have a choice.

22RE is much better than the 3.slow. Plus there are endless suppliers for hop up parts. Like mentioned above just make sure the timing chain is replaced (get the steel guide for the left side).
