i don't post much on the site, so to start my names jacob. i'm from WNC. and i drive a 95 chevy 1500, currently goin up 6 inchs. futuristically, i'm wanting to do 4 links or 3 links front and rear withabout 8 inch of lift. i saw on barnes4wd they have the DIY kits for both 3 and 4 link. i thought great!, but dont understand the whole lifting aspect of it. how much tubing would i need, which setup would be best for a full size and 1 tons? any help or advice would be awesome. thanks in advance.

If I understand your question correctly, the "lift" will come from the springs/shocks you choose and where you choose to mount them. The amount of tube will ultimately depend on where you choose to mount the brackets, although there is some science to it. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gene...-version-my-4-link-analyzer-request-help.html
Either 3 or 4 link will be fine. Most people run 3 links in the front due to limited space.

what i did on mine was sit it up on jack stands or whatever to the height youre looking for then build it to that. Dont know if this is right or not, but hey it worked for me and that way you can kinda get an idea on spring length to while its sitting there

There's plenty of us on this board that have done a link setup front and rear. The DIY link kits are a pretty good deal for what you get. Keep in mind that the frame brackets will take work to make it work on certain frames. You've got a great starting point, now it's a matter of researching. Once you think you understand everything there is to know about link suspension, keep searching, and search some more. Steering is gonna be another hurdle. Just about everything you need to get started studying is on this website.

i'm hoping to start this project next summer so hopefully i will have learned enough by then haha this summer we're working on funding and gathering parts. thanks yall for the links for the pirate thread. and the helpful ideas of how to get my measurements.
