Cat's out of the bag, Don Henley actually knew what he was talking about, hell has frozen over, Karl is driving a Dodge! But his other 15 cars are all Ford.
Jokes aside, that 5.9 with goodies pulls the double tilt trailer, with two not so light rigs very quickly.
Maiden voyage of the bronco in this reincarnation. Credit for this all goes to Bradley Motorsports, Papaw Motorsports, and KenTech for all their hard work and friendship. I had back surgery in Jan and now they want to install some hardware, so
I've been useless since last Dec.
Quick lowdown, D70 rear, 5.13s, discs, Fox 2.5s, 4 link, 42s, MRW beadlocks, 4 beard superseats, new cage, fuel cell, narrowed hood, winch/stinger, about 110 inch wheelbase, etc. I'm bucking the trend and keeping the full early bronco tub, just narrowing the front end a bit.
Couple of pics attached. The nice rig on the trailer is Karl's super trick Ranger Truggy, warmed over fuelie 5.0, C4, Atlas, 60s--you get the picture.
Thanks to Travis and his buddies in the killer Yota and lightning powered YJ/Scrambler. We had a blast on Rattlerock and Rail Trail. Happy to say, Rattlerock was accomplished with no cable pulled. Rail Trail was intense, be sure your brakes are working before attempting this one. I pulled cable twice, first time I got hung up and no matter what I tried, I just couldn't overcome the 42s going under a huge rock and couldn't back up. The 2nd time was just before the exit, I worked at the offcamber ledge and front end walked over to the left too far and I knew if I backed down, the driver's rear would hit a hole way before the driver's side would come down and didn't want to roll on first trip, especially with my girls in the rig.
Only breaks were some puking tranny fluid out the breather hold on top the C4, and the front diff cover got folded back a few times and started leaking, a little hammer time and it was back flat till the next time. New diff covers are definitely on the table.
Travis had some alternator problems, so we swapped batts since mine was easily accessible, I left the bronco running all day to charge his batt, it was really down as it only got back to 11 volts by the time we rolled into the parking lot. I'm sure the two winch pulls added to that factor.
That Toy on 47s with LT1 works really well. And the YJ with simple spring over is very impressive as well. I'm out of practice since it's been 3 years last time I wheeled. Love the wheelbase and full width. Just need more seat time. Have to do some more trimming of the rear fenders, bend some metal over the rear wheel wells, grill headlights and front fenders, some wiring cleanup, etc. to finish it all up.
Again, big thanks to Karl, Papaw, Travis and his buddies for all their help. With the back thing, my wife was watching closely for me even trying to throw any rocks, I was chastised a few times, so I was being a good boy after that.
Highly recommend Rattlerock and Rail Trail. Fun day.
Have fun, go wheelin',
Shannon
