40th Anniversary CTB Fun Caravan 2011 / SFWDA 3rd Quarter Meeting
September 9-11, 2011
Come one, come all. Bring the whole family, friends, neighbors, you name it. If they can fog a mirror, bring ’em. It’s time we all come together to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of one of the oldest Off-Road clubs in the USA. We’ll have food, fun and fellowship, uh… and a little 4-wheeling. Yep, I’m talking about our annual fund raising event called the FUN CARAVAN. If you are not familiar with this event then you are in store for a full weekend of activities.
As a bonus for this year, we are hosting the SFWDA 3rd quarter meeting. The meeting will run from 9 a.m. til 10 a.m. Saturday morning. This gives us an opportunity to get caught up on the latest news of the association as well as meet some new folks and give them a big CTB welcome and introduction to our club.
Be sure to get your sleep before you come! Friday night we kinda take it easy with camp set-up and fellowship. If you are looking for a night ride, I’m sure you will find a group heading out just after dark. If you are looking to relax, tell stories and sit around the campfire, I’m sure you will find one of those also.
Saturday is when we’ll kick it up a notch. Registration and Check-In starts at 9:00 am; the SFWDA meeting will also begin at 9 am. The field games will start at approx.11:00 am following the SFWDA meeting and run ‘til we finish. These games will run concurrently, meaning they all go on simultaneously. New for this year, we have decided to forgo the Poker Run in the forest to allow for more leisure time. You can ride the obstacle course on the property, play on the RTI ramp, take a trail ride through the UNF or just hang out and socialize with friends. It’s your call. Do what you want, but be ready to eat dinner at 7 pm, and bring your appetite because Chris Cagle and his crew returns this year to provide their delicious Grilled Chicken and fix’ns. At 8:00 pm we will have our CTB meeting, followed by the trophy presentation for the day’s winners and finally, the RAFFLE. For those folks still awake, we will have a night ride at 10:00 pm til….. whenever someone breaks or they can no longer stay awake.
On Sunday at 10:00 am, we ask for volunteers to help clean-up and pack-up the fun from the day before.
Now you’re scratching your head and asking yourself, where will all of this fun take place? I’ll tell you. New location for this year, it will take place across from the Eldorado Outpost on the site of the proposed UHWARRIE OFF ROAD TRAINING CENTER. This is a large area that has been donated exclusively for our use for the entire weekend by Scott Fields, owner of UORTC. There are “Johnny “ houses, but no SHOWERS. Showers can be taken at the Arrowhead Campground. There is plenty of room for RV’s or tent camping. As a bonus, provisions are just across the street at The Outpost.
Here’s the deal, belly up and get your money, $25, and registration sent in NOW to guarantee a meal for you and your family on Saturday night.
Okay, now for the directions: From Hwy 109 south, go approx. 10 minutes south of Hwy 49, the Eldorado Outpost is on the right, the FUN CARAVAN is located directly across the road on your left behind the two old barns. THIS IS NOT at the Uhwarrie Stables!
FINAL NOTE: We will not be collecting trail ride fees. You must purchase these in advance or on the day you plan to ride in the UNF. You can get these at the Eldorado Outpost. The cost is $5.00/day to ride the trails.
By the way, we are looking for volunteers to help with the events as well as some people to bring some baked goodies for the kids. If we have an abundance of cakes and cookies,
we will add these to the raffle. Please call, text or e-mail me.
Whether you have been on the sidelines waiting to jump in the 4x4 game or you have been around awhile, this is the time to come out, celebrate a milestone event, meet some new friends and re-connect with some old ones! You do NOT have to be a CTB or SFWDA member to attend, this event is open to everyone desiring to attend!
Thanks
