4100 lumen flashlight

One of my friends in Elkin is building lights like that. One of the last times I talked to him he had over 400 bucks each in a couple lights.

what is the point of having a light like that?

Just b/c I'm an ass...

ya know, it's not about the Lumens, which is a measure of visible light. all the effective energy for burning/cooking stuff is in other wavelength ranges (like infrared etc) that happen to come along w/ te hsame bulbs. you coudl do the same trick w/ a 20 lumen "light".

most efficient lights are high in lumens but lower in other bands so the total energy emited (used) is lower.

Still cool though.
At what point does the "flashlight" become a weapon?

The surefire x200 for my pistol can "stun" somebody at night. It will take a while before the spots go away.

You got that part right. :flipoff2:

Yeah, I've got one of those little Coast LED lights kinda like the surefire ones. I was trying to use it to work on something the other day, but kept getting blinded by the reflections. It needs a dimmer switch.

Cool flashlight... but not very practical. Especially not for camping in the woods. If you dropped it while digging around in your gear, you'd burn a hole in your tent and/or start a forest fire. I'll stick with my $10 LED headlamp.

I ve replaced the lens in my streamlight scorpion a few times. Sob gets hot if you leave it on too long. Never tried to burn stuff with it though. Cool light but Id hate to buy the batteries for that thing

i hate buying batteries for my surefire...at 6 bucks a pair...and they dont last long....but the little sob can shine across fields
