42RLE + 35s question - Moving over from my CJ to a TJ

Throw a trans cooler on the 42rle. It's a cheap insurance piece that'll help keep it happy. I've the the Derale cooler that's made specifically for the TJ/LJ. Haven't got to put a temp gauge but that is also a good idea. 42rle run hot from the factory, also you can overfill by .75 qt. You'll want the deepest gears you can get, I'm running 5.38s with 37s, being a little deeper would be ideal but I'm happy with it. At 65 I'm running 2250 roughly. I believe 5.13s are lowest for the 30 up front. As mentioned OD is terrible and the trans tuning from factory is even worse, deep gears will be a great help

I hope if you are reading anything they are at least comparing the Super 35 and not a stock 35. Regardless, people are idiots on the internet.

Yes - the debate is over the Super35 and the 8.8. Consensus is the 8.8 is the way t

It was the D35 w/ the Super 35 kit. Not in stock trim.

Honestly the more I turn this over the more I am thinking I'll just hold out for the 8.8 or better. I'll run the 33" Mickey Thompson's until I can get into a better set up. It kills me to let of a brand new set of 35" Kevelar MT/rs go when I sell my CJ only to have to turn around and buy them again but that's just the way it is. Even though this will be a light off road use daily driver - I'd rather get it right.
