Anyone here run this setup?

42" Iroks on 15" steelies.

I know a few of you have/do and I need some input.

Axle/Truck specs:

Factory 4.10s
Locked (aussie front, spool rear)
30 spline Longfields
ARP knuckle studs
5th stud
Cromo hub gears
High Steer
Gusseted
Rebuilt all the way

4.7 tcase
Stock motor
Stock tranny

Am I crazy? Ive gotten a few people tell me that it will be OK if i remember that there are 42s attached to the ends of the axle. Ive had a few people tell me that everything will be OK except R&Ps (should i send them out for cryo?) Some say that I dont have the motor to make axle snapping carnage occur... No one has had a resounding NOT A CHANCE, YOU ARE A RETARD answer yet, so thats why im asking a general consensus.

Anyone have a correct measurement of the 42 iroks? Ive heard they measure a little small.

Is there anything else that I should look at upgrading (other than "swap in a 60.") Bigger 3rd member bolts? Drive Flanges?

Im not set on this, and its very possible that I wont even run these tires. I also know that alot of other people run around ROMPING on 39.5 iroks without any issues, so how much worse are the 42s going to be?

Yes, ive got plenty of spares :flipoff2:

42's can be ran with that setup.. i think you won't like it on the way to the trail, but once you get in low/low you will be fine.. Anything you can do to lose weight of the rig will help on carnage... with 410's you should be okay on strength but if you have them out i would cryo them.. as far as weight their is not a big difference from 39's to 42's .. the only other weak link is the hubs and studs... buy flanges like trail gears that add shear pins, that way if you break something it will be big!! Just remember that you can break anything,, but i would say if you can get weight down to 3600-3800lbs, wheel it hard...

42s

I run 39.5s and moved axle forward 1.5inchs and modifed firewall maybe 1.5 back, I also have 4 inch springs with another 1-1.5 in shackle. They still rub back of firewall some. But I like the way the truck performs, I have drove it hard with no problems so far!!! With that said I think 42s wood make it tough to fit in fenders(even cut out) and keep truck some what low!

Fitment is not the issue. My firewall is back to the body mount. Ive got the room, thats not a problem.

And no, its not street legal. It gets trailered to wherever I go.

Its a pretty light truck. First gen, no doors, no windshield, plastic seats, propane instead of gas tank, no bed, quite a bit of tube though.

I have been running 42's for over a year and have broke 4 front ring gears and 1 rear. I am running stock 410's.

Don't listen to PJ and his 2600lb ass.. hell, even his wife is a little thing, I'm sure that was a consideration to keep the weight down.. :)

Propane doesn't save you any weight, in fact is typically heavier, but that's kinda off-topic..

Personally, I'd stick to 39's and be able to wheel harder and not have to drive scared... But I REALLY hate breaking stuff on the trail.

My 42x17" IROK's measured 41" tall on a 9" wide wheel. 15's are likely a little different.

Might think about a bobbys chromo rear output with the 4.10s, depends on how you drive. I like the locking hubs, its easier and less time consuming to change out a hub than a 3rd or a shaft, you have to have a weak link somewhere, put it on the outside. If you dont want to worry about pinions get a centered rear cruiser like i have.

maybe i did not make myself clear "by getting to the trail, i mean pulling trail 1 at tellico all the way across or heading up the main trail at harlen all the way to the top.... that is wear he will not like the 410's" but i think the strength out ways that. And Rich its 2850, i have been eating well....
