42's on Dodge ramcharger?

I just mounted a set of 42 swampers on my ramcharger trail rig. I need to do some more fender trimming before i can really flex it out. Im looking at the steering box and it looks like its going to be close. I know im a loner in the wirkd of mopar, but anyone ever run 42's with 6" lift on an old dodge? Full hydro steering wasnt in the plan yet.

I had 40s on my truck with H2 rims and it wasn't even close to the box. The old Chevy and Dodge trucks aren't that different. You should be fine. Mount them up and see if they hit.
 
I run 76 ford f150 6"lift with tons and 42's on h1's and dont have any hitting issues. Sorry I wish I had been a better help
 
One of these days we're going to get Eric's Dana 60 back together and get the 38s under his truck and let you check it out. That motor you sold him probably hasn't had 500 miles put on it since we got it :rolleyes: He's only running a 4" lift, all springs.
 
I probably dont have 5 miles on the 440 i put in after he bought my 360.

I plan on doing the hydro assist as long as the box clears at full stuff and right turn. I just did the cross over and high steer so i wasnt planning on full hydro yet.

I hope the d60 and 14 bolt can hold up to the 42's just fine.

Thanks for the article, i also found hazels write up on putting 42's on his ramcharger and no mention of rubbing the box.

What kinda backspacing do your rims have? Does it rub because you have to move the steering box to the 2wd position on the Dodges to do crossover?
 
I think mine are 3". And yes had i left it in the forward 4x4 spot i would have more room. Theres a nub on the box i can grind off but i think its going to be a hard hit when stuffed and crossed up. I hate tires rubbing so ill have to go hydro i guess. Probably going to need it anyway with the abuse it will see id probably end up breaking something with a hydro assist.
 
Go ahead and break out that check book/credit card for some full hydro! Besides, what's the worst abuse it'll see sitting in your driveway? :lol: :D
 
other than squirrels dropping pinecones on it, it has an easy life. But the hope of one day wheeling it again is starting to have more potential. last time I had it out was the week before you and Jake bought the motor... see its all your fault.

Post pics. I have mine that I'm going to rise and post up. I've been curious about my steering issues and wanting to go crossover and so forth. But haven't spent the time and energy on seeing what works and doesn't.
 
Ill get some pics this weekend. The cross over steering is a must do on these trucks if you havent done it already. My old rig doesnt look near as shiny as yours. Nice truck.
