does anybody know if it is possible to put a 460 motor into a ranger because i got a ranger and i just found a great deal on an f250 that has a 460 in it that was just rebuilt and all but the body looks like shit so i was going to attempt to put it in my ranger but i wasnt positive it the motor would fit or if it is even possible

It takes a bit of work... but it can be done.

It doesn't really fit, but if you're willing to cut the firewall/move the radiator/lose the A/C (and maybe heat).... etc, it can work. Look around, there are some guys with drag trucks, others with mud trucks, etc that have done it.

It also depends on what year Ranger... I'm assuming you're talking about the old ones. If it's the newer (98ish+?) ones that had the 4.6L as an option, it'll go together pretty well.

well i have already taken out all the air conditioning and heating and all and the fenders on the truck have already been cut alot and there is no radiator in it at all right now so im already pretty much starting from sratch

A 460 will *FIT* in a post ~ 81-82 Ranger. There is a changeover around there, previous there were one or 2 years of "ranger" that chared the old courier platform, don't even try that. A 302 requires the last cylinders to be undr the firewall.

The mid range it can happen, but if you aren't a fabricating wizard expect 500-1000 in mods.

The 96 (I believe) and up will fit remarkable easy, though the ones I have seen have relocated the radiator and battery tray to the bed (drag application).

Really I would say not worth the hassle, you still wouldnt have anaything when you are done IMHO. Id sell the 460 and use the funds to buy a SBC...cuz I gotta say, 460 weight on those puny front end parts (don't even mention the brakes) scares the SHIZZIT out of me.
