Hey,

Buddy of mine has a Cherokee with a 4 cylinder. Thing is in great shape. However, he has a problem that seems like a fuel issue.

When driving, it will suddenly spit and sometimes almost stall. His description sounds like the problems I used to have if I had rust in a fuel tank.

However, just installed new tank. Fuel pump was replaced just before he got it.

Could this be an O2 sensor issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tracy

Check Engine Light on?

could be:
MAP sensor
Bad ignition wire(s)
Crankshaft Sensor / Camshaft Sensor (Distributor Pickup Coil)
maybe fuel filter (not likely if its relatively [under 1 year] new)

Or it could be sucking air. The rear exhaust bolt is notorious for loosening or breaking off. Intake and exhaust gaskets are one unit. Had this happen on my 4 cylinder YJ.

Thanks guys. I am going up this weekend and I will check it out further. This will give me a starting point and we'll see what I can figure out.

Thanks again.

fuel pressure regulator too.. mines (believed) bad and it surges like no tomorrow down the road.. on right hand turns hard especially.
