I currenty am running a 350 TBI/4l60e if I take the 350TBI out and replace it with non EFI motor Could I leave the ECM installed and would it still control the Trans?

I know I could buy the controler from GM PN 12497316 but that is around $1000. I could just put a 700r4 but my trans has less the 30k and was a GM reman. any sugestions?
 
I can't say for sure, but I doubt the ECM would control the tranny it if it is not getting info from the engine like throttle position. Just a guess. There may be other factors it takes into consideration too like manifold pressure, but again, that is just a guess.

the TPS I think I could work around.

I have a diesel 6.2 that I am thinking about installing. it would be a bolt in except for controling the trans.
 
Carl - we may be able to work out something...

My 700 is fresh, and I did keep the std. valvebody. It's got the short output shaft installed as well.

that might work I am not 100% sure I am going to do this thing yet, but with the price of gas and my 13.5 mpg. I really can not drive it at all
