My nephew's 2005 Tahoe finally lunched the transmission. It has like 260k miles. I'm not sure what the problem is with it outside of it being a quarter million mile 4L60E. My sister texted me that her normal mechanic wants over $4000 to replace it (pull, rebuild, reinstall) which seems really expensive to me. Now, I'm cheap as hell but I just pulled one out of a similar Tahoe and I had it out of the car in around an hour. Of course, I sold the used one and then like a week later his went out.

I don't have the time any time soon to work on his truck with everything I have going on so I told her I'd look around. I found some places that have "remanufactured" ones similar to a Jasper for like $2200 with torque converter. They have a warranty and all. But I also don't trust these places.

No idea, figured I'd ask here and be the good uncle/brother.

It’s been a few years but I’d reccomend this guy in Clayton. He has a shop next to his house pretty much all he did were Chevy transmissions had a parking lot full of OBS Chevys, Camaros, corvettes etc. would have been pre-Covid but I believe it was like $1800-2000 installed. Sure his prices have gone up, he’d also sell you one off the shelf or rebuild yours if you bring it too him too.

Last time I had one done (probably 2022) my go to guy was $2k including R&R. But he's a long way from you and not the most reliable. He's one of those guys that you better have something else to drive and not be in a hurry.

We had the 6L80E replaced in our Yukon last year. If I remember right (somebody can fid the thread if ya really wanna know) it was $4500 for a reman unit. That included new lines and cooler as well.
