I was going to be real cool the other day and show the wife how her car could go down a sandy
river road.

well the next thing I no is we are cramming the floor mats and sticks under the back tires and the 4wd light just blinked. And traction control would not let me rock the car. It was dark before I got help.

I sent her to the Toyota place cause I thought it still had extended warranty. It did not and the estimate to fix was $800.00 . I told them I would be a 2wd. They said it was the servo motor or
something like that and it could get stuck in or out of 4wd. I looked under there and it looks like an electrical part mounted to the side of the transfer case. Could it be as simple as a bolt on part?

I really prefer shift levers. Buttons are nice till they quit working.

Yes it could be as simple as that. You could convert it to manual shift with an FJ cruiser case but there's a fair amount of work involved.

(Yes it could be as simple as that. ) OK is that from experience or R u just stating a unknown fact. I am not interested in converting it over I just wont it to work.

any ideas

If your transfer case is not shifting and you have already had Toyota tell you the shift servo is bad then that is your problem. You might be able to pull the actuator off and clean it to get it working again. This issue is fairly common for 05+ up Tacoma's and 4Runners.

Thanks I was not aware they could be cleaned. I was just thinking bad or good no in between. She never engages the T Case could this cause it to quit working?

Not trying to be a dick but are you sure you did it right? I wasn't used to the push button 4wd and it took me a couple minutes to get my bosses infiniti qx56 in low range. It had to be completely stopped in neutral to lock in. My jeep has been in low range so long I probably forgot how to shift it too.
