4WD Off-Road Conversion 2007 JK

I am looking for a good shop to take my 2WD Wrangler to and have a 4WD conversion done. I am in the Ft Bragg and Clinton NC area so I am open to places in the surrounding areas.
 
Take that 7k, and buy a Dynatrac axle ready to bolt in, and a long arm kit, and Rubicon t-case (JB Conversions sells them) and do it yourself. It will all be straight forward, with no guess work - just gotta pay for the bling. $$$
 
If you cant do the work you will spend a ton on this!
 
Thanks guys. I could probably do it myself, in a few months, to save $ on the labor. I recently had back surgery after being hurt in Afghanistan so I am not really able to do it on my own right now. I was just looking for a shop for some recommendations on what parts to go with.
 
There is a lot of aftermarket support for nice bolt-in equipment for the jeep crowd. Poke around online and see whats out there. You might could come in around ~4k if you're lucky for a ready to go front axle, and probably around 3k for a nice bolt-on long arm kit.

On the other hand, you could just look for a JK 44 front axle, and upgrade it pretty heavily with some aftermarket shafts: http://www.polyperformance.com/shop...-Axle-Set-for-Jeep-TJ-JK-Rubicon-p-19504.html

That may save you some money over building a custom axle, but who knows. Just some ideas.
 
We have lots and lots of experience with JKs, we could easily handle this if you don't mind coming down to charlotte. I honestly think that dynatrac axle is a huge waste of money. Shoot me a PM or email and I can give you several options on what you can do.
 
Also check out www.JKowners.com I know there is a D44 housing on the for-sale forum there now. Carolina Truggies has built one of the all time badest ass JK's so far. There are a few really nice ones out there but they are coming out of the big name shops. It was awesome to see the one they built come out of a local shop.
 
dynatrac axles are atleast good although expensive. A JK44 front is a waste of money there junk, purchase for 3k and then start dumping money in it. sleeves, c-gussets, new locker, gears, shafts. why not start with something better for 3k. if you need an axle for it we can build one for a good price that is beef and budget friendly.

Listen to Chase, dont waste your money on a stock 44 and let him build you an axle :huggy:

Thanks guys! Loving what I am seeing. Wife said if I sell my Harley (that I can't ride b/c of my back injury) that I can go all out rather than just doing a simple 4WD conversion.

In the long run, it might be cheaper to get rid of the wife. :lol:
 
Just throwing my 2 cents worth in ...


I would highly advise you talk to Alex down at Carolina Truggies ... He did my axles, gears, lockers, and a custom high steer setup on my trooper ... his work is very competive in price and just my opinion but the quality is 2nd to none. I've been beating my stuff for 2 years since he worked on it and not a single issue from his workmanship.
