Hey guys and gals! I've been wanting to start doing a little 4 wheeling and I'm not aware of anybody around me that does this kinda thing. I'm by no means wanting to get out and rock climb and beat the crap out of my XJ or my Mazda truck, but some trail riding and exploring is right up my alley. Are there any clubs in Western NC, (Bostic NC) that are looking for members/people to go exploring with? Thanks in advance!

Check out C.O.R.E. We do rock crawling but ride trails as well at Uwharrie. We have everything from mostly stock to custom buggies. Its a great group of people. I went with them my frst time wheeling and they were a lot of help.

Heres a link index

Look into Carolina Trailblazers. We are a family oriented club that has members all over NC (Triad and Western NC being the most dense). I have been in the Club for 4 yrs now and have loved every minute of it. We wheel a variety of places in NC and surrounding states from varying difficulty having one ride scheduled every month.

What all is done to your XJ?

So far I have a 3 in lift with 31's on it. Just installed a winch and bumpers. I have some sway bar disconnects and extended brake lines, but have had a chance to install them yet.

CTB and C.O.R.E. are both great groups. You can also look into Jeepers United, Infidel Jeepers, and other non "club" groups if you just want people to ride with. JU is a great group.

The flats and the shop are close by places to ride when they have open rides. You don't live too far from either. Rock Corp is the closest club to this neck of the woods. There's also lake Hauser to go ride. Pm if you want to plan a trip to lake Hauser sometime.

Check out CNC4x4.org We have members all over the state and even a couple out of the state. We hit Uwharrie officially twice a year and try to do something every month. We were at Potts mountain last weekend will be in Harlan in two weeks. Guests are welcome if you want to come check us out.

I have ridden Old NC 105. I have never heard of Mortimer or Hurricane Creek. Where is this back road you speak of near Bostic?

Hitting them solo is a bad idea. You never know what will happen on the trail. The simplest of obstacles can turn nasty quick and being alone like that is not good. Its always best to have another rig, or at least another body to help/get help.
