yep, luckly I'm only in the hole bout $36,000 was able to finagle my way into a few other smaller scholarships here and there as the years went on but my monthly payments are gonna be like $450 a month :shaking:

I did that, and it took away my $3000 a year scholarship because my Dad makes too much money, figure they'd be smart enough to see that I'm the one who's paying for it all and I got hardly any income, I got a big :fuck-you: for those fasfa guys

Nope, all they have to go on in is parents' tax returns.
Yup, sux balls.

But... you have to think of it from their standpoint.
A million applications a year. What would you use for your estimate? It has to be something that's already externally verified and the same for everybody. They have no way of knowing how much of it you are paying and Daddy isn't.

In our society, the norm is for parents to help out w/ education. That dosn't always happen (maybe it shouldn't at all, but lets not get into that here please).

The problem is the fact that you are a dependent. Being "dependent" means "somebody else is paying my expenses". Now you COULD declare yourself independent. You get your own rebate check, and loans based on your own income. And also to find your own health insurance, autoliability, etc etc. Your call.
