4x4cross Official Prerun Day April 11th - Also Rock Crawl and Mud Track Open Invite

I'm extremely sore today lol

Now at the top of list for changes... real shocks, racing seat for DRIVER, real harness... oh yeah and fix that rear spring/shackle

I foresee alot of broken rigs and at least 3-4 in the pond and a bunch of roll overs. The recovery crew will be busy. cool track, the MD crew was in there element yesterday, good times.

I second this statement, I would suggest a scuba crew in the pond, also I would suggest roping off the course otherwise people are going to go around the obstacles in certain areas

They will/should have tape or ropes placed on the course to prevent folks from skipping the obstacles. As for the pond and a few other places...I think there should at least be a log layed down to help prevent folks from going off into the gullies. This will help the crew keep from having to stop the race to extract people from deep places, which will take a while. Overall, I think the track is awsome and makes driving and reacting skills a BIG factor.

I had an awesome time yesterday! If I had the money I would try to stiffin up my suspension some and re-gear my axles, that little 4.0 had a time turning those 33x13.50s up the v-notches, oh well though; I wish we could run the track some more, not for practice just for fun!

Oh, thanks for not rear ending me JThomas!:D

I've got video too of the jump but that's pretty much been covered.
I got a good pic here and some more I'll add to a gallery and I'll repost after I get it all online.
I also got some good video of all the buggies going up rocky mt.
had fun guys can't wait until race day!

The track is awesome... I had a blast just running around trying out the jumps and turns... As far as v8 or nitrous advantage... Don't think it will win the race by it self.. descent suspension and good driving will make the difference.. If you have not signed up and waivering on the idea... Trust me it will be a freakin blast.. better than last year.... Looking forward to it... My only hope is that I would like to see the vantage point of the spectators be more dedicated to the area everyone was congragating at the prerun.. YOu can see 75% of the track from the one spot.... Other than that.....Good job Ricky and Uwharrie Stable.......

A good time and a great track. Lots of places to get air if you want o even though keeping it on the ground yielded faster times. First time I'd had mine out in months, glad it all held together.

HA!
Try 2.4 worth of 4 very angry squirrels pushing an auto tranny and the same tires

Looks like it went over good, what do the times and speeds look like?

There should be good carnage..oops I mean good racing:driver:

Nice pics and vids

Will the course be open on other weekends after the race,to try it?Of course with all the proper safety gear and waiver signing

^^^
not sure doug, I'll have to catch up with Ricky and find out. (he's busy as snot lately)
As for the pre-run, I'm glad everyone had a great time and yes there was some talk about moving people around but nothing final yet. Ricky has seen the place packed and I trust him to know where to put people. BTW - we're going to run rigs down that grass to line up single file for the tech-inspection.
We might, might I say... do something but don't bet on it yet.
BTW - here a few pics: April 11 2009 pre-run Uwharrie

Well the issue with opening it up again is all the non local guys that don't get the chance to prerun due to distance or just simply being way to busy working like me and cant make it puts them at an immediate disadvantage.

I'm gonna keep thinking on it thou, one idea was to open the track for, not prerunning, but at least slow riding on friday, like 2 to 4ish, then start racing a few rigs like 4 to 6ish

anyone have input on that idea??

Depending on the number of racers that show up for the race...

Leave all the racing until Saturday. The way the track is layed out this year, instead of on the trail, there is no doubt in my mind that you can run 3 or 4 times the amount of racers in a day, as last year.

*shorter track
*wide open areas makes for easier access for tow vehicles/tractor

These 2 pionts alone, are more than enough reason to allow 70 trucks/racers or more to run in a single day. Start racing early on Sat. and dont stop till it's dark or you run out of racers.

This allows friday to be a ride thru/ walk thru day for the racers. Gives them time to get their pits/camps set up and time to check out the track before the race on Sat.

So I think Friday would be a good day, just to get there, get set up and ready to check out the track.Maybe watch folks run the track, BS with friends, tune on their junk,(probably the first time for many racers to get to see the track) and basicaly slowly get ready for Saturdays festivities.

Just my opinion...whacha think?

Only thing I don't like about that is then nobody will show up until either really early sat morn or super late on fri night when the gates will be closed because we won't be able to physically man the gates that late/early

What are you going to do about the folks that were already planning to arrive late Friday, after work? I know a couple of guys that were talking about doing that.
Coming from Boone, after work and would probably arrive around 10 at night.

Tell everyone that friday is the only day to run the course again. They will be coming in at all hours on friday.

What else is scheduled for friday?

Tell everybody they must be there by 8 or 9 friday or 8 in the morning sat or they will be disqualified, that will make em show up on time.

idk here's my opinion: they showed up on friday last year, they can do it again this year

I'm not married to anything, but for now just keep planning on showing up Friday like usual, cause we're def not gonna be checking in racers Saturday morning while/just before the race is already started. We're gonna have enough logistically to get done besides trying to cram everyone's arrival on Saturday morning.

You gotta remember, before I got involved with Uwharrie Adventures I was going to 2 to 3 events a month if not more. Now that its my Job, I go to events pretty much every weekend, most times 2 to 3 events per weekend, anything from ATV races, Mud Races, Rock/trail type events, Tractor and truck pulls, asphalt drag races, and so on.

I know that if myself or whoever is holding any kind of event says you have to be at the event by say "8am" Saturday morning, more than 70% of the racers will wait until the last minute or later to show up, regardless of what kind of event it is.

So for now plan on Friday noon till bout 6ish window be prepared for anytime within then unless you hear me say otherwise.

When did you flop it JT? I didnt see that happen.

One quick tip to those that dont know...dont air down the right front too much..I bycycled my xj just a little bit in one of those left handers.

^^
Cool vids, I thought I had heard JT kept it on two wheels.
I totally missed the flop.
can't wait for race day.
anyhow, here is the video of Greg, JT, and the other buggies going up Rocky Mt Loop. (sorry I easily forget names unless I have the pleasure of meeting you more than once) and I totally didn't catch the last FJ buggy, sorry man.
